He and Meserimus have known each other a long time, he has come to London ostensibly to work on a research project with Meserimus. He is staying in Meserimus Hogsmeade home with him and his family for the summers.
The pair are researching the intersection between potions and alchemy, specifically if potions can be used to augment the purity and efficacy of alchemical works (Get better quality gold through the use of potions) and to see if potions transmuted potions ingrediants work better or worse than a real item. The aim being that it would be useful/easier to transmute a common substance into a rare potions ingrediant

In October of 1888, eight friends set off to perform an ancient ritual for luck. Unfortunately, what kind of luck was never specified. After that dark night, they took an Unbreakable Vow never to reveal what transpired, though the weight of the night that eight became seven still rests heavy on their shoulders as each battles with their own sins.

LUST
B. 1862-1866 | UCAB | GRYFFINDOR | RAKE
"Gregory" grew up on the estate south of Bridgerton, the town around which this friend group's early adventures centers. The eldest son to his parents, there was never much expectation for him to find proper occupation, so he occupies himself as...generally a rake. He remains very close friends with Cleon in particular even after the Incident. Pictured PB is Simu Liu.
ENVY
B. 1865-1866 | UCHB/MCHB | OPEN HOUSE | APPROPRIATE PROFESSION
"Evelyn" (it's a boy's name too!) is Sloth's cousin, and spent his summers from childhood through school at the estate outside of Bridgerton. With at least one older brother and a less than impressive list of accomplishments, his relationship with his parents has always been a strained one; indeed, he regards his summers as the happiest times of his childhood. Suggested PB is John Bradley.
SLOTH
B. 1862-1866 | UCAB | OPEN HOUSE | OPEN ~OCCUPATION
The only child (or at least, only son) to his parents, "Henry" has always been, at best, indifferent to what they perceive as his duties to the family. This would be less problematic (or at least, more understandable!) if he actually knew what he wanted from life instead, but he has long been cursed with general apathy. He grew up on an estate north of Bridgerton. PB is wide open, but pictured is Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Cleon Broadmoor is the younger of the Broadmoor brothers, and the one with whom Persy has always been close. Much to his father's disappointment, he did not find a home in the Ministry of Magic or, really, any profession, preferring to live a life of excess and identify most prominently as a poet. Because of this lack of any notable income, he lives officially at the family home, though reguarly spends days or weeks at a time at the residences of friends. Reputation of 8 for being a pain in his dad's ass and not the most useful. Suggested PB is Harry Styles.
WRATH
B. Sept. 1868 to Aug. 1869 | WCMB | GRYFFINDOR | HIT WITCH OR AUROR
"Ivy" grew up in Bridgerton, though as a muggleborn, did not know any of the others until starting at Hogwarts, where she and Persy became very fast friends. Intelligent and confident but with a temper to rival any, she was never the sort of friend that the Broadmoors wanted for their daughter, but was welcomed into the group by all but Thomasin, who found her rough around the edges. Pictured PB is Amita Suman.
A secret society of scholar witches?! The Cult of Hecate, unbeknownst to literally everyone, was founded in the early 1400s by a pureblooded witch who, unsatisfied with the fact that the Men in Her Life™ wouldn't let her do anything, murdered her husband, absconded with the literal library in their home, and fled to the continent until things blew over, returning two decades later with a new name and a vision: a collection of women, regardless of wealth or blood, who are willing to eschew the norms of society and, indeed, the order of the natural world in pursuit of knowledge—and the power it brings.
This secret society observes the women around them, looking for those that might make admirable admissions to their ranks:

Married and 30+
Legally permitted to use a wand
Each year, no more than two of up to five candidates are admitted to their ranks, on the autumn equinox, following a one-month trial period in which they explore what the cult has to offer. Those who are accepted have a world of possibilities opened to them. Those who are not are obliviated and left on their doorsteps, oblivious not only to the cult but much of their own identities.
Though a direct democracy, they are nominally led by a High Priestess and Council of Six who handle whatever day to day matters might arise. The Fates (three seers labelled Maiden, Mother, and Crone) help to guide the Council, and the Cult as a whole in its decisions. The original headquarters, in London, burned down in 1666, and has been replaced by Gorgon House in Edinburgh, where each member is allotted a room but no one actually lives. It bosts a vast library, owlry, astronomy tower, and extensive gardens. It is unplottable, not connected to Floo, and spelled against apparition—the High Priestess serves as secret-keeper of the location, and only members may know of it.

THE HIGH PRIESTESS

The current High Priestess was selected by The Fates three years ago after her predecessor was found to have revealed the Cult to her husband. She has a reputation of being firm but fair—both her predecessor and her predecessor's husband were imprisoned in a painting at Gorgon House rather than obliviated or quietely offed, so there's that. She herself is a widow, having married just after joining the Cult and having lost her husband in the disaster at the Sanditon. Pictured PB is Lena Headey.

Oh, she'll keep the Cult's secrets (as well as some of her own) and do her bit, but she's not overjoyed about it by any stretch. Pictured PB is Olivia Cooke.

Full disclosure, I'mma be real picky about who plays my wife, so please don't take offence if I'm not feeling it <3 Born to the middle class, Belphoebe was altogether a spinster when she met Lucius Lestrange. Her sharp mind was what earned his genuine respect in spite of her sex, and though his second wife (autumn '86), she is the only woman he's ever actually loved. Belphoebe worked in the Department of Mysteries for many years, leaving when she became pregnant with Cicero (b. summer '87), her only child. She may have returned to work after learning she is unlikely to produce more children in '89. Belphoebe does not engage overmuch with the other Cultists, but will attend votes. She was previously played. Preferred PB is Charlotte Riley.

THE FAMILY ROWLE
Patriarch Algernon Rowle is a control freak in the extreme. In fact, he is such a control freak that he eventually just put all his children under the Imperius Curse so he wouldn’t have to worry about them ruining everything.
Unfortunately for him, he is in a coma following a stroke and the children are Awake Now. WHAT WILL THEY DO ONCE THEY PIECE TOGETHER WHAT HE HAS DONE?
MIRANDA ROWLE
1854 | UCPB | NO SCHOOLING | SPINSTER & SEER
A carefree child—until her own bout with the Curse: A vision on Christmas morning, one that ripped through her like a scythe and foretold the betrayal of her father. The family knew then, of course, that she had the Sight, but what they did not know—what they could not have fathomed in that moment—was that Algernon Rowle would see his daughter’s gift as a threat to what he had worked so hard to build. On that day in 1862, he conducted his first Imperius Curse. It would not be his last. Miranda never attended Hogwarts; indeed, Algernon played at her being "unwell" for years to justify it and keep her close at hand. She lives at her father's home in Wellingtonshire, and is forced by the curse to be in a wheelchair whenever guests are around/out and about to really sell it. Who knows what her personality could have been if she hadn’t been cursed at 8?
After her "awakening", Miranda was particularly entranced by her newfound freedom and unwilling to return to life as a perpetual invalid. A compromise is struck: she will play her role at social gatherings at which her father is present, and Philip will quietly remedy things if Algernon hears otherwise from outside the family. Suggested PB is Phoebe Waller-Bridge. She was Previously Played.
CAROLINE
1852-1860 | UCPB/MCPB | OPEN HOUSE | LADY'S COMPANION
A solid twenty years younger than her predecessor, "Caroline" was hired by Robert to be Miranda's new companion—one who could accompany his sister to social engagements befitting a no-longer-invalid, and one Miranda would not actively dislike (huzzah!). A widow or spinster herself, "Caroline" sees this as an opportunity to maintain some agency and earn some income. She has also taken a shine to one of Miranda's brothers, but that is neither here nor there. Notably, she is a skilled witch and in another life might have had an actual career; in this one, she has been teaching Mira some basic magic in their downtime. She resides where Miranda does, bopping back and forth between the Rowles' Hogsmeade residence and The Castle.
Merlin's beard, Iris should have been a boy. Oh, she doesn't want to play quidditch or wrestle or anything like that, but she has a sharp intellect and great ambitions that she expects her father to do everything in his power to quash. She pushes the line but doesn't quite cross it in any meaningful way, but grows more and more frustrated by the narrow mold her family expects her to fit into. PB is open, but should fit the family.
The firstborn son to a firstborn son, Esmond has known for as long as he can remember what is expected of him, and puts on an excellent front—when people who matter are looking. First to his nanny, and now to his governess, though, he is an absolute hellion prone to distruction, chaos, and general mischief. PB is open, but should fit the family.

Open to a wide variety here! Daff has a two-bedroom flat above her shop that she wants to rent the second bedroom out for some additional income. It would be another female in the 17-25 range, who also works, probably in London. Must be good with pets, as Daffy has both a corgi named Winston and a large cat, Beatrix. Somebody new to London; somebody Daff vaguely knew in school but not well; a friend of a friend; etc. I imagine her being outgoing and maybe a little loud, witty and independent, but backstory is wide open!

The Free Spirit could go a few ways, though I would almost like for her to be a seer and really play into it. Perhaps she does it for her occupation, does it at parties for show, but it has a dark side she tries to downplay. Or something, I'm so very open!
The Responsible One [Alisha Boe]

With a flock of somewhat flighty of friends around her, the Responsible One has stepped in to be Daff's manager at the florist in wake of the wedding and taking on some of the business end of the shop. She's also taken over Daff's room upstairs in the apartment. She's got a better head for business than Daff does, so is likely to find some errors or impractical practices that Daff is completely open to fix. Pretty open and flexible, so reach out if you have something that sorta fits!
The Sweetheart [Francesca Corney]

Nice to a fault, the Sweetheart is the optimist and likely the youngest of the group. She may be the only MC deb or pursues some sort of post-Hogwarts education, but she is a ray of sunshine and friendly to the point of flirtation. She's likely also a little gullible and naïve, but has a good heart and wants nothing more than to marry and start a family.
The Shop Assistant(s)

With the opening of Wildflowers in late October 1892, Daffy quickly found the need for a shop assistant (or two!) to help her around the shop, with deliveries and Daff is fully prepared to train her employees in designing arrangements if they wish! She pays as well as she can, but this would suit a working class or lower middle class woman who is probably unmarried. Could also work for a youngish MC lass who wants to do something with her free time after marriage? I'm not super picky. Basic math and writing skills required for inventory and invoicing!

The Seldens, originally from the Midwestern United States, are an upper Middle Class family with a dark secret — there is an apparent blood curse that has impacted the family since 1785. Female Seldens die of a "wasting illness" that healing magic can't touch. Morrigan here has been researching dark magic — going so far as to make an Unbreakable Vow — for the past decade+ of her life in an attempt to break the curse.

Newland Selden
B. 1835 | MCHB | ILVERMORNY | FORMER SHIPPING BUSINESS OWNER, NOW ???
Morrigan's father, Newland, was raised to take over the family business when his older brother had no head for numbers (or interest.) He did just that, married Blanche Thwaite fairly young, and started having children — and losing his daughters to the curse. After Blanche died in 1870, and after the Great Chicago Fire impacted their business offices, Newland began doing large amounts of research into the curse. He also married a British woman, sold the business off, and moved to Britain. He is incredibly indulgent of Morrigan, and has a strained relationship with Lear. His now-wife and younger sons are super flexible, (so if anyone wants to plug in as in-laws that's available, and generally you have free reign to do what you want with them!)

Chrysanta Ruskin b. 1872 | MCHB/Half-Vampire | Slytherin House | Ministry | Lili Reinhart
Sweetie and Chrysanta have been best friends since some time in their first year of Hogwarts. Both were known as some of the meaner girls in school... until the half-breed ban. Sweetie and Chrysanta went through a lot during that time and stood with one another through it all. Chrysanta knows a lot about the details from Sweetie's perspective regarding the Handsome Incidents. Since graduating (a year late due to the ban), Chrysanta found herself employed somewhere in the Department for the Regulation & Control of Magical Creatures and has been a prominent advocate for half-breed rights and revoking the marriage ban. Someone please play her so she can write to the Daily Prophet about how stupid the Ministry is being about this whole werewolf thing.
In the wake of the Ministerial Election, Chrysanta has moved forward with activism work even without Sweetie's active backing. Their friendship has had some strains that comes with political stress, but they still have each other's backs. Chrysanta often runs in political circles such as feminist and part- and non-human rights activism, alongside human rights ideals. This has begun to raise safety concerns from her family's perspective, which leads her father to actively discourage her from being too fierce in these activities, but she stubbornly marches forward, and she can tell that he is quietly proud despite the concern. This plottage thread is right up her alley. Also, Kelly has grown an unhealthy obsession of shipping Chrysanta with Effie May Woodcroft. Could someone please do something about that? or ignore me and find another equally wonderful match, just make sure that it has some sort of will they, won't they dynamic or something, would you?!
Chrysanta is either bi or gay, but she is not heterosexual.

Quote:Works in the Spirit Division while secretly using their position to protect family operations. Has access to Ministry intelligence about investigations into supernatural crimes and warns the family of potential raids. Torn between genuine duty to protect the public from dangerous spirits and loyalty to a family that profits from manipulating the dead. Has a potential love interest that works for the DMLE.
Sweetie worked in the Spirit Division from 1890 to 1893 and would have had some time to gain connections to the department that she likely kept in touch with. Chrysanta is also somewhere in overarching Department for the Regulation & Control of Magical Creatures workspace and might even be working with Ravencrest on the daily. Thus, the connection persists. Are they work friends despite the unknown betrayal or professional rivals?

Mrs. Patton took Sweetie under her wing when Sweetie joined The Society for the Transfiguration Arts. Mrs. Patton has been a member for several years and is an accomplished witch in the magical subject. One or more of her own children may have even joined the society themselves. She definitely has a few daughters, some now married, and she has at least one son and may have more. Her personality is largely open, as long as it isn't one that would clash to severely from Sweetie's. She may or may not be attempting to hurl one of her eligible sons at Sweetie, which inevitably lead to the marriage of Sweetie and Mrs. Patton's son Freddie.
She was the main face for campaign managers in Sweetie's campaign and played an active role. This likely had an impact on her reputation.
Mr. "Walsh" b. 1836-1842 | UCAB | Open House | Scholar | Timothy Omundson
Mr. "Walsh" is a standing board member for the Society and has been for several years. His approach to transfiguration can range from odd to explosive, although he does take proper safety precautions — it is the extent to which that he observes safety measures that Mr. "Walsh" keeps in such good standing despite his eccentricities, and he has made several new rules for safety in light of his own experiments over the years. Mr. "Walsh" is often eager to see the summer interns come and go and will often take special academic interest in a bright pupil each year. Several key members of the society have been his apprentices since the summer program has begun.
If Mr. "Walsh" is UCPB or HB, he may be a member of the Flint Institute as a professor of transfiguration, or he may simply be an author and academic.Reserved for Rook (as of 01.10.26)
Mr. "Old Money" b. 1830-1850 | UCAB | Open House | Open Occupation | Open PB/Depending on Family
Mr. "Old Money" hails from [one of the bigger on-site families] and was raised among wealth. His family have academics among their fold. If Mr. "Old Money" is part a family member that takes a part of the academia folds that run in the family, he is likely a full member of the Society. Should he have chosen his own path, he is open to being a casual member and would have likely joined to simply have something to talk about with his other family members or as a passing interest.
"Cora" is a woman in a high ranking Ministry role (Dept Head, Assistant Head, Wizengamot) or other powerful position with a reason to care about Ministry policy. In any case she interacts with Oz semi-regularly, disagrees with him about some policies, and is NOT afraid to say so. Her blunt antagonism is his style of flirting, so this situation is primed for development of romantic or sexual tension (at least on his side! Could be one-way!)

"Darcy" (first name? last name? placeholder?) is a young student at Hogwarts this year—one Dido has, to date, had zero interaction with. Following a very dramatic vision at the upcoming welcome feast, however, Dido will be encouraged (both by the school and her own sense of duty) to take the child under her wing. Is Darcy a true seer, though, or just faking it for reasons unknown?
This could be shorter term (wrap up this school year) if Not A Real Seer or too resistant to Dido to fit long-term, or longer term! Open to an existing character if it works with what's already established for them. Gender, class, blood status, name, etc—their entire background is wide open! If they are an incoming third year who was not planning to take Divination, they'll be forced to now ;)

It's been over five years since Felicity was widowed in a tragic carriage accident but she is too young to be alone forever! Enter: you. Someone in a healing profession, but also middle class becuase if Fee marries again I want her to be MC >.> You can have your dark secrets and whatnot, but generally should be someone that won't completely fuck her over (partially can be entertained ;P). PB is hella open, but pictured is Jesse Williams.
Kayte, can I use an existing character for this? Abso-tutely! This is a nice, open want ad, the only three true requirements being MC, healer and/or physician, male and at least 30 y/o. Existing characters should be threadded for compatibility, though!

Sloane left in May to an expedition to South Africa. The premise is a large multi-sectioned research trip that spans a variety of creatures, marine life, insects, along with herbology, potions, naturalists and anything else that might fit! They experienced a major hurricane mid to late-July that scattered them back from whence they came, but are back now and things have settled into a routine. These characters would likely notice a change in Sloane's demeanor upon their return, but how outspoken they are about it depends on the relationships we establish. I'm very open for conversations to find a foundation between these characters OOC beforehand if that helps! I tried to give some variety, but I'm open to any ethnicities/backgrounds etc. If there's a good hook to tie a character to the Fangworth crime family, I am also open to that!
Any of these character ideas can be mixed and matched, or if you have something else that's not on here, hit me up! I put ACAB because realistically it could be, but would likely be mostly WC/MC.
December 1895 - We're coming home to be a giant pain in the ass for Conall MacKay because he needs more children like he needs a hole in the head. Especially this ragtag group! They're going to stay in the bunks at the zoo for now, though Barlow and Walters probably still live at home with their local families (unless they were affected by the mist!) and it's going to be fun! Please play with me! Additionally I would kill for Harrison Bixby and Josiah Hatchitt for reasons.
"Walters" Malachi Barton

Walters is a fresh graduate in 1895 and has been apprenticing at the zoo ever since, dealing with the mist and everything else. He's eager to get into the field and enjoys the hands-on aspect of the career. He wants to prove himself despite being fresh out of school. This can come across as a little too eager and sometimes overzealous, but he's got the natural talent and the determination to do well, he just needs some guidance. Though obviously this can develop IC however, I would like for Sloane to sort of take him under her wing. Being the youngest in her family she's never really had the opportunity!
"Barlow" Sarah Desjardins

Pt 2 of the Hogwarts crew, Barlow has been an apprentice at the Podmore Zoo since her graduation three years ago. She and Sloane haven't crossed paths much in the past as Sloane was in and out in for summers then gone and abroad. Barlow takes a special interest in the magical horses and similar creatures at the zoo and will be promoted to a full magizoologist this upcoming summer. A little more reserved, Barlow often gets along with animals more than people, but she's sweet and soft and good at what she does. Interested in developing a friendship now that Sloane and her crew are back at the zoo for a little while. There was enough of an age gap that Sloane doesn't really remember her from school, so it's all open!
"Halstead" is is done with his apprenticeship and moved into the "journeyman" portion of his career. He hovers in between the apprentices like Sloane and the more experienced magizoologists. He may or may not have picked a specialty, but he's confident about himself regardless. From the States, how/why he wound up in South Africa is open. He and Sloane have clicked over some shared interest (flying or meta?) or life event and she considers him a good friend already. Remember metas require an AtO!

"De Vries" Ruby Stokes

A South African native of Dutch descent, "De Vries" is a local and speaks the regional languages fluently. Female apprentices are few and far between on the current expedition and while it was easier to make female friends in her youth, Sloane has struggled in the last year to maintain these sorts of friendships. How she and "De Vries" get on is open for discussion, pending other group members etc! She and Sloane room together so #forcedproximity anyone?
"Veluz" Anthony Keyvan
early 20s | ACAB | single 8+ rep | artist
A true artist, "Veluz's" interest in creatures is more on the observation side. He likes them well enough, but was invited along because of his incredible talent in drawing animals accurately and with speed. He's happy to help with field journals, diagrams and anything else that lets him be creative. He tagged along with an established magizoologist to help with a book on creatures that the magizoologist wants to publish. An old soul and a bit of a softy, he isn't used to "roughing it" like everyone else is and can sometimes have a hard time keeping up.
Carolina Salma Hayak
50s | ACAB | open marital status 6+ rep | marine magizoologist
Spicy and unafraid to make a feminine mark on a male-dominated field, Carolina takes charge and runs with it. She's taken Sloane under her wing without smothering her too much and Sloane spent several weeks under her direct report. From the coast of Mexico, she is invested in this current expedition and what happens next is up to you! Her name is pronounced "Care-oh-lee-nah" and she won't let you forget it.

In all seriousness this is very open ended but here are some indications of where I'm thinking of going with this: Don Juan put a Daily Prophet classified ad / community bulletin post for an occlumency instructor sometime early fall. Start date is flexible but I'd prefer to jump in with this being an ongoing thing so we skip the early theory discussions and start threading right with the potentially juicy stuff. DJ will pay you and is unopinionated about who you are (gender, class, occupation, etc) though would probably avoid people he has too close a connection with.
What is "the juicy stuff"? Any of...
... you get a glimpse into some surprisingly vulnerable memories and start feeling protective of him;
... you accidentally see something in his head that impacts your life and it sets off a chain reaction of things (eg he slept with someone you know well and you feel compelled to do something with that knowledge);
... things get intensely emotional and it spills over into intimacy (potentially with consequences of some variety);
... you learn something you could use to blackmail him for the foreseeable;
... we become unlikely friends;
... you came in looking for blackmail material but DJ ends up accidentally learning something incriminating about you based on your reactions;
... anything else you can dream up!
DJ's thoughts and memories are a mixed bag so this plot has potential to get dark, but I'm very happy to discuss limits and steer clear of anything you'd like to avoid. I'm also game either to discuss the intended outcome up front and write our arc towards that end, or to play fast and loose and see where things go. Existing characters preferred, new ones welcome.

Has been with the Eventide family since childhood, how and why is fairly open. The important aspects are that he is incredibly loyal (or at least appears so) towards the Eventide family. This does extend to the newest Mrs. Eventide and all. How that is overall interpreted is up to player.

Regardless of marital status - which is open to player - "Mrs." ____ is referred to as such per her role as the Eventide household's Housekeeper. She was promoted to Nicholas's household when he moved into his own homestead and is proud of her status. However, she does look down upon the young master's recent nuptials to the new Mrs. Eventide and often leaves Acacia as a fish out of water with her fast familiarity of the day-to-day needs of the house that Acacia has taken painstaking time to catch up upon. There's is a strained relationship. She reports to the elder Mrs. Eventide regularly with updates on the outsider and may or may not be a fellow Eventide of The Family - or a member of an allied family at the very least.

Acacia hired _____ directly, much to the dismay/suspicion of the majority of her in-laws. Their working relationship has been prosperous thus far and Acacia is an incredibly friendly person to all of her staff, thus her Lady's Maid would ideally enjoy the job position.
This character could be as common as they come and tied into a family on board! If you wanted to spice things up, however, Anat Eventide doesn't have to be the only spy in the Eventide house.

Mother to Belladonna Ravencrest and "The Archive Keeper", Mrs. Ravencrest has always strived for perfection having only been a cousin to the leadership of the Family. She holds her resentment deep within, never letting it see the light of day lest the walls catch wind, or the spirits begin to whisper. Still, she has held her children on a tight leash for their lives, making sure to take careful control of their nanny and governess selections, and taking feedback as a circling bird of prey.
Her daughter's failure to keep her memories to herself was a deep shame upon Mrs. Ravencrest and that was the one and only time that Mrs. Ravencrest physically lost her composure. Her house of cards will likely come crumbling down because she doesn't have the tact that she thinks she does, yet that's beside the point.

Is good friends with Atticus.
