"Well, I didn't quite plan it," Tycho said with a laugh as he undid Fords progress of moving away from him by moving towards him. He grabbed the blanket that Ford had been brandishing at him before and wrapped it around himself. He didn't feel that he was in a right state of mind to properly conjure clothing.

"Understandable, I wouldn't want to cause you turmoil with the others. But how am I supposed to just leave?" Tycho asked in amusement as he reached out to put his hand on Fords cheek and gently ran his thumb over his lips. "All the poetry that fills my mind from your eyes and lips alone... Tell me. How am I supposed to just go home?"

Sitting on the floor while Tycho ran his thumb over Ford's lips and talked about poetry was incredibly hot. There was a not insignificant part of Ford that wanted to push Ty back to the floor and climb on top of him again to pick up right where they'd left off. Aside from how attractive this little interlude was, it also brought a lightness to Ford's chest.

He doesn't mean it, Ford told himself. The words sounded romantic, but that was just how Tycho was. He was dramatic about the littlest things, and he wrote poetry all the time. He probably said that to everyone he made out with. Maybe it was even true; maybe Tycho saw poems in everyone's eyes. Regardless, it didn't mean anything, and Ford would do well to keep that right at the front of his mind. This was not a grand romance. This was, in all likelihood, the beginning of a casual hook-up.

(If he didn't play his cards right, it could also be the end of their friendship).

"How am I supposed to let you stay?" he countered. He reached up to catch Tycho's hand and pulled it away from his face just enough that he could kiss the inside of the other man's wrist. "None of the things I want to do to you are quiet."

He chuckled in response to Ford's counter. He watched as Ford caught his hand and let out a contented sigh as Ford kissed the inside of his wrist. "You have a point there," he digressed, Ford having managed to actually make this usually unabashed man blush. He moved closer so that he could kiss Ford again, this time gentler than their previous kissing had been. "I ought to go home and practice shifting from raven to human with clothes on anyway.... will you be coming by?"

The way Tycho sighed made Ford feel a little giddy despite himself. It didn't mean anything — it couldn't mean anything. This was just the way Tycho was with everyone. But if it did mean something, how lovely it would be to be the cause of one of those sighs. If only. This was only play-acting, though. They were not lovers. They were friends, pretending at the dizzy bliss of a new relationship. Somewhere behind all the feelings twisting his stomach Ford was a bit alarmed at how smoothly and quickly they'd slipped into this after Tycho had kissed him and Ford had returned it, but it still wasn't real. It would end, he assumed, as suddenly as it began. Ty would do this same thing with someone else the next time the mood struck him.

(Tycho was blushing, though).

If Ford did everything right, then when this make-believe dissolved their friendship would be left behind just as it had been before, but with the added history of being more intimately familiar with each other's bodies than friends typically were. He needed to follow all of the unwritten rules for this encounter — the difficulty being that he didn't actually know what they were, because they were likely things unique to Tycho that he had long since internalized and no longer thought about. But Ford knew Tycho, so he ought to be able to guess at many of them and tread carefully around any areas of uncertainty. The rules, as he guessed them so far, boiled down to don't make things awkward. Rejecting Ty's advances would have made things awkward (particularly as the bulge in his pants had given away that he was clearly physically interested, at least). Being too invested would also have made things awkward, which was why Ford didn't want to treat Ty's words or his gestures as wholly sincere, or say anything that reciprocated the exact sentiment behind them. It was easier — safer — to keep things superficial until the dust settled.

"Don't put on too many clothes," he teased. "I'll see you."

"I won't. Don't take too long," Tycho said with a small laugh as he moved away from Ford and let the blanket fall to the ground. He concentrated and shifted into his raven form before flying back out the window that he had come through.
