His energy was contagious. And now that Alfred knew, the baby felt real — it was no longer a secret she kept to herself, but something that another person knew about. A baby. Their baby. They were going to have a baby, in the late summer, and Zelda was excited and nervous all at the same time. She wrapped her arms around Alfred and beamed at him.

"I wanted to tell you when you got back," she said, "You're going to be such a good Papa."

She just wasn't sure she'd be a good Mama — but she could get there, right? She'd get there.
