Noble raised his eyebrows at Dorset as if he was shocked by the accusation — obviously he knew it was weird and had since before Dorset had started talking to him, but he couldn't admit that he knew it was weird. If he admitted that it was weird, then everything was over. (To the extent that everything was not already over.) He let his eyebrows hang for a beat before he shrugged his shoulders at the constable.

"Wouldn't've been odd if Darrow had been on time," Noble said, after the shrug. "But I suppose I see your point."
