She was charming and she danced well, which was more than Ross could say of many of the people he ran into at these things. Also, she had an expression and a way of speaking that felt very authentic. When the dance ended, he was left wishing that they had been able to speak more during, as he would like to get to know her a little better than he had been able to in the snatches of conversation they did exchange.

"Are you planning on attending Mrs. —'s garden party this week?" Ross asked as they left the dance floor, "I shall be in attendance, I think." There wasn't really a way to be subtle about this, was there?
