The more she spoke, the more Lachlan found it difficult to keep a smile off his face. So much for being an analytical scientist type—he'd never considered that Juliana Binns had ever picked up a romance novel in her life. Of course, she had a whole life outside of their scandal, and there were plenty of things he hadn't learned about her, but he found the idea of her curled up on a sofa with a romance book in her hand to be absurd (but also a little cute).

"I think you're overthinking it," he said, "Overthinking in general. How can you expect feel anything if you're so caught up in your own thoughts?" She'd asked him so many questions after the fact that he could only imagine what had been going on during the actual kiss. He'd been thinking during their kiss, too, which made it a little more awkward than he would have liked. He'd been thinking about her body language, her reactions, the noises she was making, the way she was responding—and all of that had prevented him from just giving into his own emotions and desires. "I told you before—sometimes you just have to let yourself feel things. And kissing is one of those things you need to simply - feel." He smiled at her, small and with a hint of sadness, and shrugged his shoulders lightly.
