"Sloane," Lester said, and maybe he was not confident in any of the — relationships and kissing and feelings and whatever, but he was confident in this. He took a breath in before he finished the thought. "You're not responsible for other people's feelings, alright? Or their actions. It's not your fault that Alice and Cam are fighting. And if you weren't ready for Cam to say he loved you — well, I'm not convinced I've ever even liked anyone." His face flushed, but he had to continue, now that he'd started. Never mind embarrassing admissions.

"And if it wasn't this, it would have been something else," he added, "It's not all on you."
