Cash could be bad with names, but it was easier when he was meeting everyone for what was presumably the first time. There was Greengrass' brother, who looked a little like him, but more cocky; his mother, who stood at Cash's height and had expressive eyes; Miss Verity Greengrass with the pearls in her hair; Miss Grace Greengrass who seemed a little shy, but had smiled at him from behind her mother.
"It's a pleasure to meet you all as well," Cash said, with a half-smile. There, introductions complete — Cash was actually a little confident that they had made it through introductions intact. As long as he didn't get one of his weird brain things - which was unlikely, it was a dinner party - he figured they would be fine, because surely the manufactured small talk of introductions would be the weirdest part. The trouble was, now he was not sure what to say. Was it silly to reflect upon the weather? It felt silly, or maybe boring, and Cash didn't want Greengrass' family to think he was boring. (A weird realization: he wanted these people to be at least neutral about him.) What had he talked about with Greengrass when they talked in the club in January?
Oh, right, their siblings — particularly unhelpful when they were all here.
This could probably be resolved once they were all sitting, but Cash realized with a little jolt of nerves that there was probably some sort of seating arrangement involved here, and he definitely wasn't sure where he was supposed to go.
