"Fine," she said, because she believed that Alfred was telling the truth for two simple reasons. The first was that she did genuinely trust him; the second was that if he was going to lie to her he presumably would have come up with a better excuse. She found herself wishing, again, that no one had brought this up to her again, or better yet that they'd found a way to talk about something else several minutes ago. "Fine, nothing happened, are you happy now?"
