There was only one man on the planet who frightened Beau to his core, and that was Conall MacKay. He wasn't afraid of Eva's father because he thought the man capable of harming him (at least, not in an outright fight anyway), nor because he thought Conall disliked him. In fact, after many nights commiserating over their mutual hatred of Mr. Langley Beau was fairly confident Conall liked him. But, the Irish man was Eva's father. And, in Beau's experience, fathers did some crazy shit when it came to their daughters.
Beau's eyes widened a smidgen in fear, the first show of the panic racing inside him this evening. He would have to ask for permission to marry Eva, not that either man would believe Conall had any true say over the matter. Informing him of the pregnancy would be a mutual discussion led by Eva after the wedding. No way in hell was Beau going into that one alone. "It has to be me, courtesies and all," Beau muttered. "I'll ask him for permission tomorrow, though. Tonight is just for us."
