Thank you for your letter, I was delighted to hear from you. I did not think that a girl as modest as I am would be in receipt of such a response by a gentleman of good birth, and who has already proven himself to be a success in marriage!

I admit that I am torn between being sorry for your grief, and my own good fortune at having heard from you. I would hope to make myself an agreeable life companion to a respectable gentleman of good family and enrich his life by bringing joy and family to his home.

I enjoy both city and country life, the city is too hot in the high summer, and there is nothing more pleasant than country quiet when the days are long and hot. That is not to say that I am a wall flower, I carry myself in the season well and would be a good hostess with the opportunity, but as I have no household of my own reign over I have not had the opportunity. But in direct answer to your question, I should find that I would enjoy wherever my family were.
