Hermia didn't realize she was so engrossed in the strange book until she was startled into nearly throwing the old parchment. Going pink at her own skittishness, Hermia recovered quickly when she recognized a friendly face. Thomas was a Ravenclaw, but Hermia felt rather comfortable in his presence. They enjoyed Quidditch Club together and, while she spent two more years on her House team than he had, he was her superior in Transfigurations. Hermia couldn't hold it against him, he was just so good! When it came time to prepare for OWLs, she was quick to seek him out. She wasn't missing points for her pride.
Reminding herself that he wasn't 'Thomas' anywhere but on the Pitch, Hermia grinned. "Mr. Montgomery, a pleasure! The festival has been fantastic. Last night was perfect." It took everything in her not to gush, but it wasn't kind to brag, not for a group victory. Reminded of his background, he'd also helped with Muggle Studies, Hermia lit up and extended her discovery.
"Forgive the assumption, but do you know what this is? I think it's Muggle and, I admit, it's some sort of English, but I don't know what on earth it is. Can you make it out?" She wasn't embarrassed by her lack of understanding, not really. She could only learn if she was willing to ask.
