Well she supposed there was a possibility this day would one day come, although why the likes of Smellory Pendergast got to marry a firstborn Lestrange when Angeline remained unattached, she didn't know! Nepotism was one thing but Ellory was obviously defective amongst her family as well as a liability. Surely she ought to have been sent off to wherever reject debutantes went to become tolerable yet fusty spinsters? Or they could have pawned her off on someone like Aldous Crouch, they were both physically wanting and the middle class was really more Ellory's speed anyway. It was no great boon for Ellory's family to marry someone like him but they'd be rid of her and could just act as though they'd forgotten she ever existed!
Perhaps she ought to try harder with Angeline and Bellona, or rather actually try matchmaking for them, she clearly had a talent for it, Aldous Crouch and Ellory Pendergast were the perfect match. What a pity the world would be deprived of that coupling now.
As hard as she tried, Tig couldn't help but keep circling back to Ellory's new position in society. She was a direct comparison, she had the social grace of a garden gnome and the fashion sense of a mole, but that only made it worse if somehow she upstaged her. If Ellory suddenly started to take after her dead mother people would compare the two of them and it wouldn't be Ellory who looked bad. Tig's gut instinct to prevent this horrific scenario was to physically incapacitate her in some way but the specifics would need work. Childbirth might get her anyway but that wouldn't really be satisfying. The little rat would only be glorified in her premature death and her gross offspring wouldn't necessarily die with her. Tig wouldn't care if the whole thing wouldn't be unfolding right under her nose as it would now that she'd married Claudius.

She'd seen very little of Ellory in the last couple years - of course she'd almost vanished from society completely until more recently so it was hardly surprising - and it had been a long time since she'd had to deal with Ellory induced rage. That said, she wasn't the same little girl who'd thrown herself into a duel with her, nor the same girl who'd tried to stab her with a teaspoon.
