May Writing Challenge

Thread a Title: Choose one of the ridiculously long (or simply ridiculous) typical 19th-century-style chapter titles below as a prompt for a thread! Use the title for your title (or... part of it if it doesn't fit?), and interpret the prompt however you like. As usual, threads must be at least 10 posts long with 3+ of those posts being your own.

(All titles come from Victor Hugo's Les Misérables, because of course they do.)
—THE HEROISM OF PASSIVE OBEDIENCE
—THE DEATH OF A HORSE
—ACCOMPLISHMENT OF THE PROMISE MADE TO THE DEAD WOMAN
—THE UNPLEASANTNESS OF RECEIVING INTO ONE’S HOUSE A POOR MAN WHO MAY BE A RICH MAN
—THE GROPINGS OF FLIGHT
—IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO BE DRUNK IN ORDER TO BE IMMORTAL
—HE MAY BE OF USE
—TO SCOFF, TO REIGN
—A GROUP WHICH BARELY MISSED BECOMING HISTORIC
—BEGINNING OF A GREAT MALADY
—[CHARACTER NAME], WHILE SEEKING A GIRL IN A BONNET, ENCOUNTERS A MAN IN A CAP
—ONE SHOULD ALWAYS BEGIN BY ARRESTING THE VICTIMS
—THE ROSE PERCEIVES THAT IT IS AN ENGINE OF WAR
—TO ONE SADNESS OPPOSE A SADNESS AND A HALF
—THE MALICIOUS PLAYFULNESS OF THE WIND
—[CHARACTER NAME] BECOMES PRACTICAL ONCE MORE TO THE EXTENT OF GIVING [CHARACTER NAME] HIS ADDRESS
—PRELIMINARY GAYETIES
—A DRINKER IS A BABBLER
—THE WAR BETWEEN FOUR WALLS
—WHAT IS TO BE DONE IN THE ABYSS IF ONE DOES NOT CONVERSE
—THE SEWER AND ITS SURPRISES
—IN THE CASE OF SAND AS IN THAT OF WOMAN, THERE IS A FINENESS WHICH IS TREACHEROUS
—CONCUSSION IN THE ABSOLUTE
—TWO MEN IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND
—THE IMMORTAL LIVER

For the thread to qualify, it must be started, finished and posted for archival all during the month of May, as well as linked in this thread!
