Grand Opening Game Turned Gruesome
Nine Trapped for an Hour
Nine witches and wizards were trapped for nearly an hour inside the storeroom of A Collector's Playhouse, a shop on High Street that was subsequently closed by authorities.
The nine victims, including an auror-in-training, Unspeakable, and half a dozen young ladies and debutantes, were subjected to an escape-style game in which they were left to find a magically-hidden exit—all without their consent and knowledge.
Two of the ladies were said to have been struck by an axe while attempting to escape, while another was temporarily blinded by flying keys. None suffered any permanent damage, as their injuries disappeared upon exiting the shop.
The owner, Mr. P. Grant Butcher, was taken into custody on a number of charges, most notably false imprisonment and theft. His business license has been revoked, and the artifacts in his shop have been taken by investigators to determine their original owners.
