Connie shared the small smile, pleased to see that Holly’s spirit had taken only the very slightest of dents from the evening’s events. It was a shocking thing when one wasn’t expecting it, and information might quell the shock but Connie knew from experience there were a myriad of other emotions swirling in the young woman’s body.

Merlin but she was looking forward to coming out the other end and ceasing her body’s fruitless attempt to reproduce. It would be so relaxing not to have to keep notes of dates and occasionally being struck by an ache whose origin was utterly mysterious but ultimately, inevitably put down to the function of her reproductive organs.

“You won’t, I promise. It’s a common fear, but everything really is quite manageable.” She placed a hand on Holly’s shoulder, squeezing gently. “If you have any more questions you need only ask. I know how you like to be well-informed about everything,” smiling softly she ushered Holly to her feet. “But for now I think rest is in order.”
