The Quidditch World Cup is returning to Irvingly, and though Britain is set to play its first game in May, Britain has not yet released its team roster...because tryouts haven't even started! The Quidditch League (under their new leadership) maintains that this is because the British league is still running through April, but even they acknowledge that they're a bit behind.
Tryouts for Team Britain will take place on Tuesday, April 7th. This is the last day of Easter holidays for Hogwarts pupils, allowing those who wish to participate to do so. OOC, they will begin on Tuesday, March 31st to ensure they are done in time for public release of the roster on the 9th. Tryout locations will be as follows:
Chasers will be trying out at the Puddlemere Stadium (LIVE)
Beaters will be trying out at the Holyhead Stadium (LIVE)
Seekers will be trying out at Cannon Stadium (LIVE)
The team captain will be the player 23+ years of age with the highest score. If there is no player 23+, the player with the highest score will be made captain.
Does your character have what it takes? After reading the rules, fill out the form below and submit it from the account in question! A "like" from any of my accounts means you are cleared to try out when the time comes. Signups will be accepted on or before Monday, April 6th.
Rules & Regulations:
- Players will be scored based on a modified die roll system. The stats you put forward for this system will, if your character scores onto the team, also be used during the QWC as well (...if Britain makes the finals!)
- We will be fleshing out second string as well as first.
- Characters must be between 17 and 35 (inclusive) years of age on April 1st in order to try out.
- Characters must have at least 5 posts at the time of signup.
- Student characters who make the second string team may finish their year at Hogwarts, but those fortunate enough to make the first string will be expected to withdraw from further studies immediately.
- No player may have more than one character on first string. If you have more than one quidditch-playing character trying out, please indicate your preference at the time of registration. This will only affect situations where one or more of a players characters score onto first string.
- To promote realism, no more than three female players will be permitted on the British team.
- Weather conditions will be rolled for each position's tryout, but not each individual player.
- Even if you register here by the deadline, your character will be unable to try out if they do not post in the requisite thread during the appropriate timeframe.
CHARACTER NAME:
POSITION:
EXPERIENCE*: <dd><b>Student:</b> (years)
<b>Second String:</b> (years)
<b>First String:</b> (years)
<b>Years Away:</b> How long since they last played if they don't currently?</dd>
CHARACTER AGE: As of April 1st, 1890
QUIDDITCH SKILL: Average, Good, or Excellent. Be realistic.
WEATHER BREAKDOWN**:<dd>Sunny: 0
Windy: -1
Rainy: -1</dd>
**These points indicate how well your character performs under certain weather conditions, with defaults listed. You may add a total of two points across these three areas. If you choose you may add a third only by subtracting an additional point; you may subtract as many as you like, but will gain no more than one extra.
Catigern starts out with the default values:
Sunshine: 0
Windy: -1
Rain: -1
With three points to allocate, his final values are:
Sunshine: +1 [+1]
Windy: 0 [+1]
Rain: -1 [+/- 0]
If I were so inclined, I could subtract more from rain and add to sunny, but even though I took two from rain I cannot add more than one extra point elsewhere:
Sunshine: +2 [+2]
Windy: 0 [+1]
Rain: -3 [-2]
