She looked worried still, but at her I guess you could say that, Lorcan’s brain instinctively accepted that as something to do with the Backus family at large, and supposed the nicest thing he could do was tune out and let her rant about it. (He had plenty of practice of ranting about one’s family. Did it all the time.)
With the thought of his own extended family in the back of his mind - and the smell of the stew at the forefront - Lorcan was only half paying attention to her next question and enjoying having her slender waist in his grasp. “Uh, yes,” he answered, barely holding back a snicker as he shrugged his shoulders, “I was just thinking the other day that I might get a new owl. Or maybe even get us a puffskein. That’d be fun, right?” He hadn’t had a proper pet since he’d been at school. Of course it would be fun.
