Clue was really quite well-read for a boy who'd had to teach himself, but he'd not yet delved into the field of philosophy as much as perhaps he should. Having said that, he did understand one related truth — Aleksei Nichols was a fatalist. He believed, perhaps, in pathways ahead, in forks in the road; a path you "should" take, a path you "could" take... and perhaps more paths you wish you could take.
As for Clue, he wasn't sure if he was a fatalist or not, but he took issue with the word "should", unable to comprehend exactly what the young Hufflepuff meant by it.
But the Slytherin was very much gripped by the boy's dilemma, and wished him to continue. "Sometimes I wish I were someone else..." he confessed. "But 'should have been born as someone else'... I'm not sure what you mean..."
