Whilst his obvious shock was embarrassing, it was nothing to the pure mortification she was preparing herself for when the other girls realized what had happened. It was one thing to know of her eye situation, another entirely to witness it and in such close confines with those girls she didn't doubt they'd be unkind about it.

Pet's free hand made a few jerky movements as she repeatedly fought the urge to grab her eye while reasoning that she probably shouldn't go grabbing for it when it was so close to him. What if she accidentally touched him? "Erm... Would you mind, please, could I have that back please? Sorry."
