The sight of a smiling Mrs Rosier was a rare one indeed and Elladora felt a familiar stab of pleasure at being the one to bring it forth. Even after so long it was still a singular thrill and not something she took lightly: despite what some might think their kind of life was a far from easy, there was precious little in the world that truly afforded one any real pleasures and it could just as easily be taken away or made dull by the obligations that inevitably proceeded or followed any joy.
“Flatterer,” she murmured, arching her body easily to catch the other woman’s lips with her own. They were sitting close enough that it was hardly an effort at all, which was entirely the point of their seating arrangements but no less pleasing for its practicality. Evalina tasted strongly of the drunk still swaying in her glass and Ella felt a tiny bit drunker than she had a moment ago, heady from the brandy, the fireplace and whatever Delphic magic this woman possessed that she had never quite managed to find words for.
