Why was he doing this again?
Archer hovered on a broomstick he had borrowed from the school, his knuckles nearly white as he clutched a bat. Citrine's instructions had barely registered in his brain before those around him had already sped off to begin the obstacle course. He could wait his turn, if only to be able to gather up a bit more courage.
He had allowed a housemate to convince him to try out. He wasn't sure if the other Ravenclaw was hoping Archer would make a fool out of himself, or if he was really trying to be nice. Apparently, quidditch might help toughen him up. Was that really what he needed? He did enjoy flying and playing a modified version of the game with other London children. But was this really what would help his second year be more successful?
Still unconvinced, Archer decided he would at least give it a try.
When his name was called, he clenched his teeth and zipped off to begin the obstacle course. While he didn't seem to miss hitting any of the bludgers, the boy seemed reluctant to actually toss other children off of their broomsticks. It seemed he just missed most of the students who were trying out as chasers. If one watched closely, they might realize he was purposely aiming slightly to the side each time.
Maybe he really wasn't cut out for quidditch.
