An understanding of the will of the Tarot
By Miss Antelope E Grace
Before I discuss my choice I must foreword it by discussing the nuanced nature of the deck. No card has one true meaning, the order in which they are pulled even their orientation can throw up all different meanings. Let me use the oft-maligned card, Death, as an example, it is an end to something important? A terrible thing to find? However, on this occasion it was preceded by the five of pentacles, a purveyor of financial turmoil, so where are we? Perhaps an end to a debt that has weighed around one's neck?
My least favourite card, would have to be the Three of Swords. This card typically signifies loneliness and loss. This is my anathema, loneliness or rejection is not the way I would like to live my life and I take great pains to fill my world with other people. This would again be dependant on context. I would suggest The Fool and perhaps Ten of Swords along side it. Taking the Fools meaning of friendship and the Ten Swords often being associated with lasting anguish. This could indicate that a long-standing friendship will end in pain and will likely never be returned to what it was.
