13 December 1894 - Hogwarts Courtyard
Cadogan shifted uncomfortably at the edge of the courtyard, tugging his scar tighter around his neck as the cold tried to kiss his skin. It was freezing out, but he had to see for himself if the whispers he’d heard at breakfast were true — a seven foot snowman had appeared in the courtyard, and he wasn’t entirely very nice. Someone had said the snowman had trekked in from the Forbidden Forest, although Cad wasn’t sure how true that was. The snowman laughed as its twigged arm reached out to steal another hat from a student who had wandered too close — this time a rather garish one knotted in Ravenclaw colors — and placed it jauntily on its own head. He had a Hufflepuff scarf he’d stolen, on top of what looked like another, although Cadogan couldn’t discern what colors that one was. The snowman laughed then, coal black eyes glancing around at the small crowd that was forming around him.
Cadogan stepped back, his hand coming up to rest on his own head, although he wasn't close enough for the stick arm to steal it. He glanced to his left hoping that someone would step up and stop this nonsense; surely a professor would sort this out for them. But he didn’t see any professors present, which inwardly made Cad groan.
The snowman turned its attention toward a group of students near the frozen fountain, its grin somehow widening. It pointed at them. “You! What’s my favorite game?” The students exchanged some nervous glances but no one answered.
The snowman leaned forward, scattering a puff of snow near them. “Let me show you, then.” With a dramatic spin, the giant snowman launched a flurry of snowballs from seemingly nowhere, pelting them at nearby students. Some of the students squealed and scattered while a few others, like Cadogan, decided to see what might happen.
Cadogan ducked before one could smack him square on the face, which made unluckily for the person behind him ensured that they took the brunt of it. He turned around and winced. “Sorry!”
