February 25th, 1894 - Greengrass Residence
Yesterday's newspaper saw Greer's life flashing before her eyes. She was going to have to brave the cold, the coldest of cold, to go to the shop to get Jemima's dress to bring it home to work on it. If she couldn't, there was no way it would be done in time for the wedding. The embroidery alone was going to take her days. This shouldn't be this stressful. It wasn't her wedding, damn it! Not that Greer ever truly envisioned getting married, but she had always imagined there would be no fuss and no stress.
It was supposed to be an off day and she thought her fingers might no numb from being cold, even inside the house, but she had to do something. Tailoring existing pieces for the rest of the family for the big day was going to keep her busy enough that she hoped she could get enough done so that when she was able to work on the wedding dress, she wouldn't have anything else to worry about. She hoped anyway.
Might as well start with the groom, as he was the next most important. Greer knocked gently on his bedroom door having mentioned the possibility of taking a look at his suit at breakfast this morning. She'd spent most of the morning assuring Aunt Audra that she would be able to fix up dresses for each of the Greengrass girls, before the big day as well, but that wouldn't be quite as necessary just yet. That would be simple fixes to existing pieces, some color-changing, a little embroidery, it would be fine. "Do you have time now for me to take a look at your suit?" Greer asked through the crack in the door, hoping whatever it was that he had to wear was already in decent shape.
