The two of them had to have known how fast the rumors would spread, how instantly their reputations would plummet. That Ford had stayed at the party while the wildfire spread about the room was both impressive and incredibly disappointing. Verity stayed silent for a minute, pondering when she had last seen Miss Farley. It had to have been before the chaos begun, right? Surely she couldn't have been so foolish.
