Dorian had never felt so wholly uncertain of what to do with his body before. It was awkward, her being here like this. And perhaps he ought to have let her leave and return at a later date, but that just meant another potential encounter at a later day. If he returned home too early or she stopped by too late...no, it was better if she finished now. Even if it hurt like hell watching her pack.
He understood better now than before why she had to leave. The heaviness that had settled upon them in her boarding house years ago had never truly left. Dory wanted a life that she was unwilling to live, and asking her to fit into that box was wrong of him. If he had had a lick of sense he would've ended things then, but he hadn't. And now they were here, awkwardly dancing around one another in the house that was now too big for him.
He leaned heavily against the hallway wall, determined as ever to avoid being in her way. He trusted her enough not to feel as though he had to follow her from room to room. In fact, knowing Winnie she likely wasn't taking half of the things she ought to be. Dory sighed. He would do a second run through later — tomorrow maybe, when he didn't feel so raw and exhausted — and send her whatever was missed.
He thought he was out of the way enough, but moved from the hall towards his bedroom without issue. There, he wordlessly sank down onto his bed and waited for her to continue on.
