Ten years. Ten years without so much as a gruesome injury (right? He couldn't remember anything too jarring in his tenure, but perhaps he was getting old.) and now the loss of Miss Bixby over the summer and Pembroke's unfortunate accident all within a few short months. Oh and the new flight instructor. Maybe he was cursed. Why had he agreed to become a Head of House again?

Mason wasn't used to using his inside office this much. He much preferred the one attached to Greenhouse One on the grounds, it was where students still searched him out, so much so that he had to put a sign up with office hours and directions to his office within the building. It was coming along, not nearly as tidy as he would like, but it certainly lacked the clutter of his other space. At least that was nice.

It was an open door policy, Mason too claustrophobic to physically close the door anyway, and so he wasn't surprised when Prince came through the door. The question about the business after his party perplexed him though. The party for all of the promotions was near a month ago, what had he missed? Was it Pembroke's death? "Ah? I'm afraid I'm very unattuned to the rumor mill." For good reason. Unless somebody was in danger, Mason really didn't want to know.
