There was little Will could do to protect them while holding a toddler and remaining wandless. (The truth also remained that even if Will had a wand he had only a vague idea of how to use it.) And still, he tried. He reached for Diana a second too late, her shield protecting them from the fire but not from the loose cobblestones beneath their feet. Were it not for Henry clinging to his neck, Will would've rushed to her and thrown her over his shoulder, but as it stood he could only reach for her with a single freed hand.
