Howell might have heard people he knew talk about ‘Honeydukes’ once in a while, but the word held no more significance to him than a strange god from a foreign land might have. (He had never ventured so far down the High Street here to the so-named shop.)
Rather nonplussed by the introduction, he took the hand and clenched it firmly for half a second, because he liked nothing less than an overlong handshake. “Howell,” he answered, with a very slight nod about it being his business. “Side business, really. Don’t get up here too often. M’the head dragonkeeper on the Avalon reserve.” The cheese was more of a passion project for him.
Encouraged slightly by the fact this Honeyduke owned a business, Howell pointed out another sampling. “This one’s smoked.” It had a brownish rind from the smoke-curing (dragonbreath smoke, of course) to distinguish it; it was hot and more peppery in flavour.
