Dearest Evey,

It is with great pleasure to announce that you have become an auntie — hardly the first time for you, but the first nonetheless to one of my children. It is so surreal to be that now — a mother. I feel that bringing my treasure into the world has given me profound maturity!

Let me tell you about her: she is tiny and she looks like a Pendergast more than a Lestrange. We’ve named her Simonetta, after the woman who inspired Boticelli’s Venus! I confess that I hadn’t thought of many girls’ names, seeing that there was such pressure and certainty that it would be a boy. Her middle name is Alexandria, like Claude’s mama.

I confess that I do somewhat feel like I’ve disappointed the family. Well, uncle Lucius that is — Claude will be an amazing father and he’s told me he’s rather glad our first baby is a girl, for she can be ours entirely, whereas a boy would be “snatched” away by Uncle Lucius.

I’m also worried about what I’ll have to name my following children. The Lestranges have their tendency to go with themes, so what shall me and Claude do? Go with S names? Go with art related names? Or maybe Renaissance ones? I know it’s early to talk about this with Netta (that is what Claude calls her) only two days old, but I doubt we’ll have difficulty expanding the family.

Dearest Cash,

You probably know of this already, but you’ve become an uncle yet again! I gave birth two days ago, in the evening of the 18th. Her name is Simonetta Alexandria and she’s tiny and lovely. She has Claude’s eyes, but lighter hair, we’ll wait and see if she’ll look like me or your late mama, I suppose.

I am terribly sorry to inform can’t be her godfather, though. I am terribly sorry, but your father won’t allow it — thankfully, I compromised with Regan instead of Tiberius. In any case, you must become her favourite uncle and teach her how to fly on a broomstick and be her negligent chaperone when she grows up (so long as she’s not put in danger, that is). I know you’ll be her cool, loving uncle she’ll feel safe to go to if she needs to.

Come to Fort Lestrange as soon as you can so you can meet her!

My darling Ellory,

What joyous news!

Upon reading your letter, I was halfway to the hearth—and its pot of floo powder—before remembering myself and the toll that childbirth places upon one's body. And so, I shall wait (however impatiently) to meet my dear Simonetta and to embrace her strong and wonderful mama until you are receiving visitors.

You must not worry about disappointing anyone. Not only is a daughter more for her parents' sake than for that of the extended family, but more for her mother's sake than that of her father. Indeed, you should relish the little creature and the knowledge that she is to be yours first and foremost. As to the names, I confess that I think anything more than adhering to a set letter (as evidenced by my own offspring) is rather tacky, so I hope you shall put any such concerns from your mind swiftly.
