History:
1852
Benedict Carlisle Sterling is born to a working class family, Eric and Cecilia Sterling.
1856
A five year old Ben is helping his father shoeing a horse when the horse flinches and kicks Ben in the face. A loose nail happened to not have been clipped yet and split the child's face. Had his mother not been a healer, he would have most certainly lost his vision as a boy. What is left of the ordeal is a scar that runs from his right temple down to the corner of his mouth.
1858
Eric Sterling passes away from cardiac arrest. Ben is left to take care of the horses at age seven during which time his grandparents come to stay with Cecilia to help around the house. Ben takes responsibility of the horses and despite his previous incident, continues to care fondly for the beasts and makes sure they are taken care of.
1860
Ben shows off his equestrian skills when he happens to be in town and a horse gets loose from a carriage. Ever the quick thinker, Ben leaps onto the horse's back and calms it down. The owner of said run-away horse is Emerson Bancroft a rather affluent middle class wizard who pays his thanks by returning the boy to his mother and praising of his equestrian skills to the family.
1861
Cecilia and Emerson are married. Ben is pleased with his new step-father and both bond over their fondness for the equestrian sport. Even more, Emerson is equipped to show Benedict the magical side of equestrian that Eric was not able to. Ever the practical man, Ben's step-father teaches him the art of swordsmanship and archery. Like with equine sports, Ben takes to the new activities with gusto and intelligence.
At age ten, Cecilia and Emerson contemplate Ben's education. If he hasn't shown any sings of magic by the end of the summer, they figure, they'll submit him to school and let him pursue his passion working with horses. It's the day that they are contemplating this that while riding a horse, he makes the horse levitate a good few feet off of the ground for a couple seconds before landing safely back down. Suffice to say that was proof enough both his parents, though his mother had to recover after almost fainting at the sight of her son flying.
1863 - 1864
Ben's first year at Hogwarts escorts him straight into Slytherin House. He had his sights on keeping his head low, and he does so for the first few months, however he finds himself quite prone to making quick friends.
1864 - 1865
During Ben's second year, he finds himself invested in the sport of Quidditch. He takes to it well and eventually ends up on the Slytherin Quidditch Team as Seeker. There he is cheered on by three lads who he's grown quite close to: Garrett Wallingford, Baxter Keene and Ari Fisk; all three of them in Hufflepuff, a rather unorthodox house to usually be paired with a Slytherin. Nevertheless the four get along swimmingly, with Ben seemingly the most...hyperactive of the bunch.
1865 - 1866
It's Ben's third year where he grows into the more mischevious side of his personality. Most of his pranks are rather harmless, and for the vast majority of the time, the targets are his poor sometimes-not-so-unassuming friends. They take his pranks in stride, though Ben finds himself attempting to get Ari out of his shell more often than the others.
1868 - 1869
Ben finds himself named Prefect to the astonishment of his friend group. In reality, with all the pranks he pulled, they were mostly out of sight from staff and virtually harmless; emptying one person's book bag and switching it with another's, switching the lads' shoes for each other's, short sheeting their beds. It was really so easy to target all three of them when they all lived in the same dorm. His excellent O.W.Ls marks saw him a good chance at a spot on the Auror-in-Training Program at the end of Hogwarts.
1870 - 1871
With Benedict being the youngest out of all his friends, his seventh and final year sees him without anyone to pull epic pranks on. Just as well (to give his friends a break) and he's also made Head Boy. This takes up a majority of his time in addition to studying for his N.E.W.Ts to make sure he gets the highest marks in order to guarantee his spot on the Auror-In-Training list.
Sure enough, Benedict graduates with flying colors and gets offered a spot in the Ministry of Magic's Department of Magical Law Enforcement Auror-in-Training Program.
1884
With his relationship with his friends strong as ever and a position as an Auror in the DOMLE, Ben enjoys his bachelor life with considerable gusto. The Laughing Plague ravages through the Wizarding Community, though Ben and his friends come out unscathed - though many of their loved ones and friends succumb to the horrible disease.
1885
James Carmichael resigns as Head Auror and promotes Benedict in his place. Ben is elated and quickly runs to his friends to tell them of the good news. While supportive, Benedict isn't 100% sure they're confident he can lead the task force without causing serious harm to himself.
One day, on a particularly crowded day at Padmore Park, chaos breaks out and Ben finds himself having to handle multiple trolls attacking all wizardkind. Ben himself was stopping by to say hi to a few friends when the chaos breaks loose and he sees Ari tending to a child. After getting a good deal banged up, the both of them, they end up having to apparate out of the park. Ben ends up splinched and Ari has to yet again, tend to Ben and his wounds. It's not a pattern or anything in their relationship. Nope.
1886
The year that everything starts fracturing into pieces. Ari's sister (with whom Ben had briefly entertained his affections) goes missing and Ben ends up finding her. To decompress, Ari and Ben end up at Ben's flat, and turn to drinking. Bad turns to worse as Ari ends up professing his feelings for Ben. Too shocked to do anything except lash out in anger and confusion, Ben kicks Ari out of his house.
Tensions between the two only tighten as they try to act normal. Ben, caught between anger and confusion - to report Ari would be to kill himself in the process - and burgeoning feelings that refused to give up.
1887
Directly a year after their forgotten events of February 28th, Ben is on a mission and goes missing. He wakes up on the shore of Ireland with not a clue as to who he is or how he got there. He is taken in by some lovely humans and in the next following months, quickly becomes a chef in their kitchens.
Ari is the one who ends up finding him. Ben remembers nothing of his wizarding background or his abilities. This time, there are wounds that neither of them (were Ben to be an observer in this scenario) might be able to fix.
After a few months of recovering, Ben's memory comes back in spurts accompanied by headaches. He's able to regain his footing and is asked to join the Aurors again by the Department Head, Justin Ross.
1888
Benedict re-joins the Aurors at the end of February 1888. He has regained most of his memory, though still deals with frequent flashbacks and feelings of déjà-vu.
