Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1894. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.
I suppose you must have thought you imagined me, after you heard nothing more from me. In certain moments, I like to imagine that you saw mirages of me often enough - father as well, although I've heard that he's dead now, too.
I also suppose that I must reintroduce myself: Mrs. Nicolina de Vries formerly Dippet, in the flesh, back in Scotland. I've been busy the past few months, but I've come back to Hogsmeade, and in my time here I could not help but note your good fortune! Have you told Mr. Devine that you have a sister still living? I've met him - he thought that we looked alike.
Nicky
Nicky has been out of the UK since 1881; you probably don't recognize her, but talk to me if you think your character might!
She is currently living in the Three Broomsticks, pretending to be a middle class Afrikaner from South Africa.

Whoever you think you are, whatever you think you're doing, you're certainly amusing no one but yourself —
After she spent several minutes staring at the letter and then busted out the last letters she had from Nicky years ago and compared the handwriting:

Sister,
Mr. Devine never mentioned the meeting; I suppose you must have failed to introduce yourself when you actually needed to. You've done so here, though it's rather unnecessary; I could never have forgotten you. Why have you returned to England?
I believe he met a Mrs. Nicole Davies, from the Netherlands. I was not so sure who he was at the time, you see.
I have spent a great deal of time traveling to wherever the wind, so to speak, took me. But home called to me, and my daughter deserves a British life.
Nicky
She hesitated to reveal Josie's existence. If Max found out about her, there would be problems. This was why she had taken up in the countryside for months, staying at an inn with a lover she was running a con on - Max could not know about Josephine. But if Ophelia knew Max, Nicky would be surprised.
And who would Ophelia tell? Nicky could do more damage by striding into the offices of every wizarding newspaper in London.

That's probably for the best. I haven't told him everything — it was difficult to imagine a need to do so before now.
How old is your daughter? Where are you staying?
O
'How old is your daughter' being the polite way of asking 'who's the baby daddy,' and 'where are you staying' being the polite way of asking 'did you come here with some dude or are you living in the streets?'
