What: Masquerade Ball
Who: UCAB and MCAB* in good standing (ministry/hospital higher ups etc)
Cost: n/a

Why: PARTY. Seriously though, somebody marry these girls.

ACAB | Any Rep | Christmas Trees & Holiday Arrangements

What: Cut Your Own Christmas Tree + Holiday Floral Arrangements
Who: Anyone celebrating the holiday season
Cost: Free to enter, although prices for items to purchase will vary (naturally, the larger the tree, the more expensive they will be; the more complex/larger the arrangements are, the more expensive they will be)
Where: Hillicker Farm in Porchester, England
Why: get your Christmas on
When: December 6th

The Hillicker Farm is hosting an opportunity to come and walk the rows or trees to find the perfect one and cut it yourself; pre-cut trees are also available. Upon request, the tree can be enchanted to twinkle with lights. It will be delivered the following day, so no worries on how to get it home.

The Wildflower Florist shop, owned by the lovely Miss Daffodil Grimstone also has wreaths, arrangements and other holiday florals available for purchase. (Her manager will be there in her absence.) Fairies never actually go away and stole a few mistletoes to follow a few people around the farm with them to cause some mischief; it’s never a good idea to anger a fairy, so do so at your own risk. (They are not subtle in their anger and you may experience sudden terrible luck until amends are made.)

A small variety of hors d'oeuvres and sweet treats from Honeydukes to satisfy any palate are found near the entrance, available for a small fee. One free hot chocolate per visitor is offered upon entry to the farm. To enjoy the food, two bonfires with chairs surrounding them have been set up.

Why: To have fun and celebrate the holidays. Also something for the Muggles and WC folks to do.
When: December 22nd, 1894

The lake has completely frozen over and some Irvingly folks such as Josiah have taken it upon themselves to clear the snow off of the surface to make it into a skatable surface just as they have done every year. Skates will be on loan to those that do not have their own. There will also be a bonfire, Christmas snacks and hot cocoa made available, caroling, and handcrafted, muggle made toys will be handed out to any children and teenagers in attendance.

SEE INSIDE | REP # | WINTER BALL

What: The Minister's Winter Ball
Who: Held by Thomasina Dempsey, in honor of her husband
Invited are:
— All ministry employees and their immediate families; those of Reputations below 5 may notice their invitation missing, but could still slip in
— Hospital Head and immediate family
— Hospital department heads, +1
— Business owners of rep 7+ including Quidditch sponsors and other professionals (ex. attorneys, magizoologists, librarians etc) and their spouses
— Quidditch captains
— "Society Notables" not included above -- ask me
Cost: No, but people are expected to be wearing ball-appropriate clothing (this is less laissez-faire than the June ball, and folks may be turned away if they look too ~dodgy.)
Where: Destiny Hotel, London
Why: Sina is trying to prove she's better than Roslyn Ross?
When: December 20th, 1894

The ballroom and restaurant are decorated as if in a snowy castle, and the food is all festive and winter-themed. There is enchanted mistletoe around, and it will trap people until they kiss or the enchantment wears off in the wee hours of the morning — Sina will feign innocence if asked about it.

UC/MCAB | REP 7+* | MASQUERADE BALL

What: Christmas Shakespearean Medieval Masquerade Ball
Who: UC/MCAB with Rep 7 or higher, but that's kinda flex? It's a masquerade, it'd likely be easy to fly under the radar :P
Cost: Nope!
Where: The Dempsey Estate; Galway, Ireland
Why: Christmas! But it's also the Dempsey Clan so it's gotta be #EXTRA
When: 23 December 1894

Huzzah, have a Pinterest board!

It's Christmas at the Dempsey Estate, bitches! Hosted by Lowri Dempsey, the estate is decked out in opulence and gold; black and gold, to be precise. The vibe is 'dark enough to be on brand for the Dempseys but not so dark that it seems like death is everywhere' :P Sheer black curtains are hung from Renaissance-era columns and accented with glittering gold sparkles. The centerpiece of the ballroom is a large (not quite floor-to-cieling) dark green pine tree, decorated in black and gold ornaments.

Of course, a themed masquerade ball means guests must dress up on theme, and dress to impress. Extra masks are provided for those who might have forgotten, or merely want to play up the Shakespearean theme. Of course, the masks depict forest animals, fae folk, and all kinds of wonderful, whimsical

Musicians have been hired as entertainment for the main ballroom, however there are many side-rooms containing various activities; fortune telling, and a lounge where guests may dictate a message for a scribe, who will then write it in the form of a sonnet and send it to the guest's intended. (Note: this does mean there will be many pages flying about the room; careful not to get clipped by one)

Dinner will be served at 8pm and the ball will last until well past midnight, to the hours of the morning the next day.

MCAB | REP 5+ | FAMILY CHRISTMAS PARTY

What: Potts Family Christmas Party
Who: "I am not tagging everybody and their brother; if your name is or was Potts, Plunkett, Bixby or Hatchitt, or are attached to one of them somehow, you are welcome to join us! Not sure, just ask!" Additionally the Frasers will be there, oh and the Belbys because at one time, I forgot I whored out all of Laurel's sisters. How everybody fits, I do not know #magic. Notably absent will be the Grimstones, as Daffy is on necessary bedrest and y'all are welcome to visit whenever you want.
Cost: N/A
Where: The Potts' home
Why: To celebrate Christmas
When: December 24, 1894

Dinner will be served followed by parlor games. Think the Christmas party in a Christmas Carol. There's Quin's cocoa, a giant Christmas tree, probably some hiding mistletoe, decorations out the wazoo and lots of of family laugher <3

A family thread has been started here by the favorite son-in-law, pop on in or feel free to do your own thing!

MC/UCAB | REP 6+ | NYE Ball

What: Time Turner NYE Ball
Who: An UC NPC who wants to relive her youth
Cost: N/A
Where: An estate in London
Why: Celebrate the New Year
When: 31 December 1894

The ceiling is adorned with chandeliers that resemble intricate clockwork, their gears slowly spinning. They change color with each hour to mirror the passage of time. The decor involves hourglasses that have sand that falls at a pace matching the hours for the evening; to accompany the chandeliers and hourglasses, the room is decked out in gold decor and lighting.

Dancers for a local company have been hired to perform a “dance of time”, where each hour they perform a different style while changing costumes to reflect different eras. A divination booth is set up to receive some prophecies for the upcoming year, although how serious you take them is on you. A golden chest sits near the front entrance, where attendees are encouraged to write wishes for the year ahead. It will be sealed at the end of the night, although the host may open them later and laugh at whatever you wrote. Of course there will be a dance floor for all the usual hurling shenanigans.

A minute before midnight, a spell will hit the entire ballroom, slowing time for all attendees; it will feel like a few minutes, when in reality it will only be one minute. When time resumes, the chandeliers will explode into fireworks to welcome 1895, although there is a barrier so no one will get hurt/burnt by them.

Guests are encouraged to wear outfits inspired by time, or outfits from other eras. Food and drinks will be what has been popular to serve at balls for the last few decades.

UCAB | REP 8+ | NYE Ball

What: Imperial New Years Celebration Ball
Who: Viola Foxwood & the Foxwood Fam
Cost: By invite only - PM/Discord Fox (I'm too lazy to type everyone out lol; the usual suspects though)
Where: Foxwood Estate, Bath
Why: To celebrate the New Year, get Basil hitched (not), and because I needed a setting for a core plot moment that forced the family together.
When: December 31, 1894

"The decorations were spectacular, even in Basil’s own rather uninterested esteem. The inspiration had been some imperial court or another and as such, the estate at Bath had been transformed with rich, opulent fabrics, Fabergé egg displays, snow-covered fir trees, and plush furs. He and his family had been instructed to wear deep jewel tones so Basil had opted for a dark blue. (He’d left the fur-lined cloak his mother had suggested by the wayside, feeling it a bit too… something for his tastes.) There were ballet performances throughout the evening and - perhaps the only really interesting facet as far as Basil himself was concerned - a caviar station that had been brought in from the Caspian Sea. (He quite liked caviar, actually.)"

Inspiration: Imperial Russian winter courts and opulent traditions.
Décor: Opulent fabrics, gilded mirrors, Fabergé egg displays, snow-covered fir trees, and plush furs.
Dress Code: Jewel-toned gowns, fur-trimmed cloaks, and gold brocade suits.
Entertainment: Russian ballet-inspired performances, traditional dances, and caviar tasting stations.
