This person is essentially Basil's copy-editor and contact in publishing. He is quite wide open; maybe he has a publishing house, or maybe just works at one, or maybe not at all. Maybe he works for Transfiguration Today and has connections with publishers, or does that on the side? I'm open to discuss the potential but request involvement in this backstory creation-- specifically how he and Basil have crossed paths in the past.

In terms of connection, I feel like we can decide how this goes based on the ideas. Originally my thought it that they've been working together for some time and are friendly, if not friends. I'd like the friends route because I feel like this character in particular has leverage to harass Basil about life things. But also open to dislike and general apathy with potential for developments (both good and bad.) He's been with Basil, ideally, from the beginning of his publishing journey and has been urging the brunette to write an actual book. Basil refuses, because who the hell has time for that, but maybe one day he'll open up to the idea.

Obviously, this character is a fellow Academic ™ and has a strong appreciation and practical grasp of Transfiguration. (If he's also a fanboy nut or not though, up to you.) He generally is very active in that realm though and is Basil's link to the ongoings in academia outside of Hogwarts. I'd like to develop the academic journal community across Charming too and have sooo many ideas, so if even vaguely interested-- hmu. I have so much more on this topic lol.

Face is a vague suggestion, no requirements really just - yanno - male. Age is flex, but would like 30+ (I just need someone to use this face so I don't and to make Basil blush.)

The baby of the family, everyone hopes Amber will have an easier ride of life. Tess and the others have pushed the benefits of education upon her, which may have gone one of two ways while she is at school – she is either precocious and hoping for a scholarship to see her through to NEWTs, or growing rebellious against her sisters’ ambitions for her, and more inclined to be a troublemaker and follow her own pursuits. Quidditch, maybe? Something far-fetched that won't pay.

Printer’s apprentice and once-delivery boy, Sam got the job young, having not much schooling and needing an escape from his less-than-ideal family circumstances. Cheerful and mischievous, he has become an honorary brother to them all and always puts on a brave face, no matter the situation. He helps Tess, “Fabian” and “Declan” process print orders and is still in charge of transporting the bigger loads to the post office to be sent out, and likes experimenting with new materials and inking processes. When things get really rough at home, he can always count on the printshop to take him in. Reserved for Fawkes

She's been referenced as having 3 girls, keeping it to a "reasonable amount" and the oldest is probably approaching Hogwarts age. Responsible and very much the Oldest, she enjoys her work immensely. Outside of that things are open!
Basil "Herb" Potts [Keanu Reeves]	1834 | GHRS | married 8 rep | marine herbologist Quirky and very go with the flow, Laurel can pretty much use him as a doormat. He wanted at least one boy, but gave up that hope after Daffy was born. He's surrounded by women and mostly okay with it. He's quite adventurous and thoroughly enjoys his underwater career! Gregory's eldest younger sibling, Bea is the sister with whom he is closest; Bea is also the only sibling that Greg thinks might suspect he is lying. She is kind and witty, and most at home in the countryside, where she loves to ride and garden. Unlike her elder sister and mother, she was quite content with 'just' being a debutante and eventually a wife & mother, but after several seasons, has struggled to make a lasting match for reasons that are up to her player! The eldest of the Hart boys and the brother with whom Gergory is closest with, Rupert was named for his father. He has always lacked Gregory's way with money, and secretly his mother still manages his accounts. (He would be mortified if anyone knew!) Rupert may be still unattached, or may have married at any point in the last six years. As the eldest son, he inherited a country home and one in Hogsmeade, both of which he shares with his mother, youngest brother, and unmarried sisters. He may be the leisurely sort, or may have found a job in the Ministry that is at least vaguely prestigious.

Their parents were also relatively open with their children, telling them when they chose an abortion potion for the good of their family in 1875. Life probably would have continued as normal, but in 1879 their mother fell pregnant again, dying in 1880 in childbirth for Maeve II and putting a rip in the family dynamic. The children have dealt with this in varying ways since. She attended Hogwarts from 1878 until spring 1880 — when their mother died, she came home for the funeral and never went back to school. While age and responsibility for their younger siblings have sanded off some of the difficulty in their relationship, it certainly hasn't gotten all of it. Fiona is pretty open as long as she has a really strong personality — she would tie in well with feminist plots or with the Augurey Beak Cafe activists. Life is a Gambol

The Gambol family name once commanded respect. After all, Francis Gambol's own grandmother was the Minister of Magic who introduced the Hogwarts Express! Unfortunately, that respect has gone the way of their financial position: he's all but pissed it away.

ROSALINE GAMBOL

B. 1847 | MCPB | HUFFLEDOR | LONG-SUFFERING WIFE

The matriarch who took matters into her own hands. Young Rosaline knew one thing when she made her debut into society: she would marry for nothing short of love. And marry for love she did—and that love lasted. For a time. The first major blow came with the sale of Gambol Grove. By the late 1880s, she had lost all respect and love for her husband. She took his hair, brewed a potion, faked his identity, sold the Wellingtonshire home, banked all the money, and bought something more practical in Bartonburg. Oh, the family has fallen, to be sure, but Rosaline knows with every ounce of herself that, if left to his own devices, Francis would have ruined them even further.

Today, she controls the purse strings, gives her husband an allowance that he may spend as he likes, and does everything in her power to make the budget work. They have only a house elf for staff, they repeat outfits and, if she had any actual skills, Rosaline would get a job (leaving school with only three NEWTs when one was raised to be a society wife does rather leave one lacking). No matter: seeing to her family is a full-time gig anyways. But perhaps, just a little time for her... some external romance...

FRANCIS GAMBOL

B. 1833 | MCPB | SLYTHERDOR | LOW-STATUS MINISTRY

The patriarch with delusions of grandour. At eight years old, Francis Gambol declared he would be Minister of Magic, just like Grandmama had been. At thirteen years old, he took his first Divination class—he had no talent for it himself, but became fascinated with the idea of omens and prognostication. At nineteen, though, Francis bet on his first boxing match. Shame the ill effects of that weren't in his tea leaves that morning.

Francis Gambol is a man who always assumed there would be more, simply because he had never been given to think the opposite; he is also a man who has always thought the world owed him more because of the family and influence into which he was born. The steady march towards death (well, middle class) hit him incredibly hard, and yet he could not stop the gambling, for he was well and truly an addict. Then his wife played her gambit. Things have been, understandably, quite cool between them since then.

He had to get a job, one altogether beneath his dignity, but at least it gets him away from her, and he can say it's a stepping stone towards a later bid for Minister of Magic (never mind that he's past sixty and has no political experience). He still believes in his signs and his seers, and is convinced that his children—each named by a seer—have glorious futures ahead of them, in spite of his accidental efforts to the contrary. Suggested PB is Richard E. Grant.

PROSPER GAMBOL

B. 1875 | MCPB | OPEN HOUSE | MINISTRY OF MAGIC

The eldest son, altogether underqualified for this. Growing up, Prosper was destined for greatness, to hear his father tell it. Funny, he hasn't felt great, not since the true circumstances his family faced were brought to light. Had his mother let him, Prosper would have left Hogwarts then, would have immediately sought work; he is glad she insisted he finish his education, but feels he is decidedly underqualified for the position he has landed. And for most things, actually. Suggested PB is Louis Partridge; alternatives should have dark hair.

BENEDICT GAMBOL

A bright spot in strenuous situations. Growing up, and indeed, to this day, Benedict was often called Egg by his siblings, owing to his nickname from infancy, when he went for eons without an actual name. He finds this nickname embarrassing, of course, but it has cemented him as the fun Gambol, the one who will do all he can to lighten the mood. This is a weight upon him, really: he is often reluctant to reveal any negative feelings to those in his family, resulting in their being bottled up more often than not. Suggested PB is Archie Yates; alternatives should have dark hair.

A dark cloud on even the sunniest of days. Serendipity was the last child to join the Gambol family, arriving when they were already in their descent. Unlike Benedict, she has always tended to be rather dour, sharing her father's fascination with omens, though only ever noting the bad ones. Of all the children, she is the only one who does not have a complicated relationship with Francis; the two balance each other well, her grounded, him fanciful. This does, however, result in a more strained relationship with her mother. Suggested PB is Holly Lawton; alternatives should have dark hair.

Ottaline has always been one to stand up for what she believes is right and for those she cares about, and so she was quick to support her cousin-slash-closest-friend and cut those who wouldn't from her acquaintance when the shit hit the fan. She's the sort who doesn't set out to be remembered, but likely will be, and is very skilled in her subject of choice.

FAIR WEATHER

"Isabella" and Fran clicked right out of the gate during their earliest days at Hogwarts, forming a tidy little sextet with Ottaline, "Guinevere", and two others. But reputation, it seemed, was more important to her than friendship, and she was swift to make it clear that she had no room in her circle for Harmony Frances Gambol. And thus, the rift, tearing the group in two.

Unbeknownst to "Isabella", who rather struggles with her schoolwork due to what would be diagnosed today as dyslexia, she's been paying Fran to write her essays for years. Unbeknownst to everyone else, the tides are turning within her own family, and it's possible that they might be the next to fall...

The steady hand to the tiller. He is everything one could want in a first born son. As the head of the family, (XXXXXX) takes his responsibilities very seriously. He feels a profound sense of duty to protect and provide for his siblings and uphold the family's honor. He often struggles with balancing his personal desires with his responsibilities. His sense of duty often leads him to suppress his own feelings and aspirations. (XXXXXX) can be quite stubborn and resolute, especially when he believes he is acting in the best interest of his family. This sometimes leads to conflicts with his siblings, in particular Ephram, who he sees as reckless and feckless. He is close with his siblings - even Ephram, he just wishes that Ephram took fewer risks with his business and his life in general.

There is capacity for other children to be in the middle - at least one daughter, and one other child.

XXXXX is cheerful, playful, and full of energy. He has a lighthearted nature that endears him to his family. He is the youngest and is affectionate, close to his siblings, and doted upon by almost everyone. He is a curious and excitable kid, who is fascinated by Ephram's job and the show. When he is home he spends a good bit of time with him, even if the eldest brother would prefer he was enrolled in flints or did almost literally ANYTHING else. Ephram has sent him a myraid of unique items and nicnaks from his travels and the show.

The Potts Family Players

Cecil Potts [suggested face: Daniel Day-Lewis]	b.1836 | GRHS | married 8 rep | MCHB | Herbologist A hardworking man, Cecil takes his job and duty to his family quite seriously. He does his best to balance work and family, and can often fall short of the latter until his wife makes note. In whatever he does Cecil gives 110%, exceedingly present and involved as much as he can be. Potentially does work or research for the Ministry, or a similar organization with deep enough pockets to supply a home conservatory.
Elizabeth "Beth" Potts [suggested face: Miranda Otto]	b.1841 | GHS | married 8 rep | MCHB | Housewife A homemaker first, Beth presents herself as the quintessential witch and mother. She concerns herself with appearances where she can (sometimes difficult in a family of plant-lovers) and plays the stateswoman of her family. She adapts her approach with her children, loving for the ones who need support, such as her eldest son, and stern with those who need structure, such as her youngest. She likely has hobbies and/or social groups that take her out of the house often, especially ones where she can rep the Potts family name and achievements.
Edmund Potts [suggested face: Max Irons]	b.1863 | GRH | Formerly Married 8 rep | MCHB | Museum Curator A man who had everything he wanted, a stable career and loving wife, and lived up to every ideal instilled in his upbringing. Perhaps some even thought Edmund would make Minister of Magic someday, until it all came crashing down. Either his wife died or they divorced, leaving him with half a heart and a wandering soul. Edmund has done what he can to pick up the pieces of his life, and may be close/back on track from where he was, just several more years behind. He would be closest/in friendly competition with Dorothea, and an example to Edmund until things fell apart.
Fletcher Potts [suggested face: George Sear]	b.1873 | GHS | Single 8 rep | MCHB | Performing Arts A young man emerging from his fledgling years of adulthood, Fletcher pays respect to his family while forging his own path. He has adopted a diligence with his own, balanced with moderation and a love of social exploits. His ideal would have him surrounded by a flock of admirers and followers, perhaps friends, with whom he could collaborate in their careers or personal lives. While he looks up to his older brother, Edmund has learned from his brother and father to find better balance in his life, and from his sister and mother how to stay true to his own guiding light. He is closest with his youngest sister if he is close with any of his siblings, often preferring the company of others beyond his family.

She makes many of the goods for their General Goods store and is constantly looking for ways to add additional items. She is the reason for the beehives and sheep on the farm and has a running “joke” with Bert about purchasing their own silkworms to make silk. She spends much of her time at the store and is very invested in the lives of her sons. Of the friends she is loud and enthusiastic, but always there for week and chats. She considers her friends' children as much her family as her own boys.
Fiona Bixby née --- [Pictured is Sandra Bollock]	THE QUIDDITCH ONE 1840| OPEN HOUSE| MARRIED| 8/7 REP FORMER MINISTRY EMPLOYEE Fiona has led a long and successful ministry career in the Broom Regulatory Office. Her marriage to Carson was one of mutual fondness that blossomed into something more, after marriage. Together they have four surviving sons, and one daughter. Sloane's twin, Sawyer, was lost in infancy a few months after his birth. Presently, she is trying to balance Wally after his accident and Sloane after her return from the "dead". It's not been easy, but she's retired from the ministry now and thrown herself into taking care of her kids. How this is impacting her marriage, friendships and everything else is open!
Beatrice Hatchitt nee — [Pictured as Ruth Gemmell]	THE PROTECTIVE ONE 1844 | OPEN HOUSE| MARRIED 8/9 REP | WIFE AND MOTHER Beatrice Hatchitt has spent most of her life as a caretaker. With seven children, one of whom was sickly for most of her young life, she has never been idle. It all comes naturally, and she worries, of course she does, because none of her children have every made much easier for her. Gabe into the Auror office and his young marriage; Jess and his fast track into the Reversal Squad and his questionable life choices; fortunately Connie (minus her brief rebellious streak) and Victoria haven't been too difficult. Then there is of course, the younger boys and Mercy. Her youngest daughter had been sickly since birth, but she never let it slow her down, so her death from the Laughing Plague in 1884 was a tougher hit than expected. With all of her children out of Hogwarts now, she mostly keeps them under close supervision though tries not to interfere too much. Currently she is keeping a closer eye on Lester's friend, Sloane, after her return from a terrible accident in which she was missing-presumed-dead for nearly a year. The Hatchitts and the Bixbys live next door to one another and many of the children have overlapped or been close over the years. Add in the Potts and the Plunketts and really, they've got Hogsmeade covered.

"Tennyson" (name open) was Dido's charge when she was a governess, born to a muggle family that lived near her parents' home. He is also blind, something that has impacted his studies to varying degrees. When Dido worked with him he was a curious, if cautious, young boy, though that may have changed in the years since. One of Dido's longest friends, "Sebastian" (name wide open), along with "Leroy", stood up for her when she was being bullied in first year and got stuck with her as a bestie <3 She has always had a bit of a crush on Sebastian, but has never acted on it. He should be unattached to start but does not need to reciprocate her interest at all.

Ideally he would be a professor as well so they can hang out at work, but he could also work for the dept. of education—if the latter, I have Thoughts on getting him into the castle long-term so he should just be a regular departmental employee. A twin to "Leroy", "Lydia" (name flexible) has long been a force of nature. Of the group of friends, she is the one most easily frustrated by Dido's tendency to wander off mentally mid-conversation. Indeed, she is the most easily frustrated full-stop. Never the sort to let anyone say she can't do something, Lydia played quidditch at Hogwarts and later found a more masculine profession in the Ministry of Magic. She is deeply loyal to those she cares about, even when they annoy her. Her marital status is up to her player. Face and ethnicity are open; pictured is Tuppence Middleton.

The Notts

For Hadrian Nott

A mostly traditional UCPB family, who bought up and currently reside at the Hellington Cross estate, a country house near Seething, Norfolk. They are, in Hadrian's opinion, rather mundane and ordinary – so of course he set out to distinguish himself. Now he's home, and they're a happy family again. Or they're... trying to be?

HEPHAESTUS NOTT

B.1836 | UCPB | MINISTRY / WIZENGAMOT | PB: IAIN GLEN
Brother to Atalanta Hart et al, Hephaestus Nott is a practical man. He is judicious, family-oriented and concerned with being well-respected. He can tolerate some amount of independence or going against the grain, as long as it's carried out sensibly. Unfortunately, the firstborn son he thought he was moulding in his image turned out to be something of a deliquent and disappointment, and not very sensible at all. He lives in perpetual exasperation, though his wife constantly tries to soften his edges when it comes to – well, anything. (He's growing concerned about Hadrian's influence on Cleo, though.) His health has always been his downfall – any wishes for a more active career were stalled in his youth by his delicate constitution, and after years of having been cautioned of this, he is now something of a hypochondriac, and forever making threats about "after I'm gone..."

AURELIA NOTT NEE _____

From an upstanding UCPB family, Aurelia's marriage to Hephaestus Nott was arranged – they got to know each other mostly after marriage. Their children brought them closer, because they both strive to show off their happy family, but as individuals, they are starkly different: Aurelia is shallow, frivolous and fanciful, and forever in want of attention. Hadrian has gifted her at least one exotic pet from his travels, and remains very much a mummy's boy. She doesn't usually care to spread gossip herself (but enjoys receiving it; she would be more of a social busybody, only she's rather lazy and impressionable, and never seems to have an idea of what's going on) but makes a special exception for badmouthing Hadrian's ex-wife Cordelia Emsworth, and never mind that she enthusiastically supported their youthful engagement way back when.

LIVIA _____ NEE NOTT

B.1865 | UCPB | SOCIALITE | PB: LILY SULLIVAN
Hadrian and Livia were close in their youth, playmates and near in age – but over the years their paths have diverged considerably, and they have only kept in perfunctory contact with each other. Perhaps their lifestyles have been just too different – Livia had a successful society career, married sensibly and settled down, and has children where Hadrian still doesn't. She may have lost her husband in the intervening years – and if so, Hadrian was not around enough to offer any real sympathies – or is side-eyeing him for his divorce. Although he's looking forward to getting to know his nieces and nephews, he and his sister are not likely to be comfortable with each other nowadays, so it might prove awkward.

CLEOPATRA NOTT

B.1872 | UCPB | ASPIRING ARTIST/NATURALIST/SPINSTER | PB: RUBY PEDERSEN
Now that Cleo has graduated and is not-so-busy doing debutante things, she has (eagerly) inherited Titus' old role of being Hadrian's unofficial assistant-in-chief. Her art classes have given her an adept eye for meticulous scientific drawings of plants and creatures, and she is glad to make practical use of her time doing things other than pursue marriage. Bright and cheerful but equally cynical, she imagines her father will try to make a match for her if she doesn't succeed in society, so she might as well focus on her own hobbies and ambitions in the meantime – and if spending her days organising drawers and drawings of moths doesn't make her much of a "catch", then that is society's loss indeed. She would be quite content to spread her wings in life alone, if it comes to it.

A note about my adoptables: Welcome to the manifestation of my re-watching and reading of Call the Midwife! A lot of the qualifiers that I include are extremely flexible! I'd like the personalities and backgrounds to match at least a little, but I am also quite content for things to change or switch around <3

“Prudence”

Operating as the head of the Abbey, Prudence takes on the brunt of the responsibility in both overlooking the midwives’ schedules and the running of the Abbey. This includes maintaining the separation of the muggle and magical communities as well as making sure the Abbey has sufficient funds, which more often than not means planning charity balls and partnerships - the part she detests and often hands off to one of the more senior members if she can. “Temperance”

Hailing from a high-society muggleborn family, she caused an absolute scandal amongst her family when she got a letter from Hogwarts. It was by the gracious nature of a benevolent aunt who convinced her family to let her attend. Even so, when she left Hogwarts, she was expected to re-integrate back into Muggle society. And then, horror upon horror! She announced her desire to become a healer; and not only a healer but a midwife at the Abbey working with magical elves. What would the rest of the family say? Of course, nothing, because they’re forbidden from saying anything about the magical community, but that’s almost #Worse given the rest of the family have the collective creativity and imagination of a pile of wood chips. “Hope”

She comes to the Abbey as an optimist, to put it plain and simple. She came from a good family with a good reputation and a good family dynamic. She has never known what it’s like to wonder where her next meal is coming from. She’s certainly pretty enough to have gotten employed somewhere where the hours were light and the labor even lighter, but instead she’s chosen midwifery. She thought training was gruesome, but she’s about to get a huge awakening into just what it’s going to require of her.

“Justice”
To say that she has quite the Cinderella story is an understatement. Another muggleborn, Justice was born into abject poverty among the worst of the worst. Left on her own to fend for herself at the age of 4, Justice found her way to a nearby church where she was subsequently adopted by a pastor and his wife. Born from nothing, Justice is true to her moniker and fights for those who do not have access to healthcare as easily. She likes to prioritize taking care of those born into the same conditions she was, both magical and muggle; this aspect (especially where muggles are concerned) takes some tiptoeing around, however she strictly adheres to the rules of Magical Society (however much she might hate it). “Faith”

She’s a favorite amongst the Matrons of the Abbey, and that solely has to do with her voice. A low and husky, it’s as if she can talk for hours and hours on end and be completely content in the world. She doesn’t get very phased by anything, including tricky births. She has a lively flirtatious side that most if not all inhabitants of the abbey are subjected to, and is often the one encouraging the others to go out for a drink or night of dancing. “Courage”

A dark horse if there ever was one. Courage was another midwife born into poverty, however she was born into a magical family who managed to do quite well for themselves given the circumstances. She is a bit rough around the edges, and tends to clash at least with anyone born to a higher rank than her (re: everyone); not out of jealousy, but out of extreme mistrust. She will be your friend until the end, but you must earn it, and earn it well. She takes her role as a midwife extremely seriously and she will not tolerate anyone who speaks against it. “Fortitude”

Dearest “Fortitude”, is the common saying around the Abbey. Having failed her examinations twice, she is now going for a third time. In addition to studying a third time for her examinations, she is also rather clumsy to a disastrous extent (don't ask Prudence how many medical instruments Fortitude has broken or knocked over in the past week). She perseveres, however, and she does it with gumption and eagerness. Pictured is Samantha Ellsworth, with alternatives open!

JUNO PUCEY

B. Jan. 1878 | UCPB | RAVENDOR | SIXTH YEAR ('94)

NOT TWINS. For the last damn time! Sure, they look eerily alike in the whole face region (PB is Mia Goth, but could be blonde!), but legit, they're just cousins. They don't even get along, and indeed spend most of their time not together, as most of their classmates should have recognized by now.

Where Polly is outgoing, athletic, and confident, Juno is reserved and prefers books and the arts. As a modern gal, she would no doubt embrace the dark academic aesthetic just because it's her. She is incredibly intelligent obtaining high marks in all her OWLs. Though no one but those closest to her know, she hopes her elder sister marries incredibly well so that she may simply become an Unspeakable. None of the Puceys know that Juno has any inclination towards a profession, and she intends to keep it that way until she can't really avoid telling them.

Regarding her uncle's death, she (quite rightly) does not harbour any guilt. It was a freak accident, for which she is not at all at fault. Still, she misses him dearly, as she grew up loving him and Aunt Cosmina almost as much as her own parents.

COSMINA PUCEY

B. Jan. 1878 | UCPB | SLYTHERPUFF | WIDOW

Cosmina Pucey has never been alone. She shared the womb with her twin sister, with whom she was altogether linked until the two married—in the same ceremony—twins. Indeed, the couples went on to live side-by-side, and raised their families together. While she still lives in that same house, with her sister and brother-in-law right next door, her husband's death has left her feeling entirely adrift. She has always been one half of a set, but now, one of those sets is incomplete—and she has to face grief alone, without a companion who understands what she's experiencing. It is a daunting task, one that she is not certain she is up for, and one that has left her feeling incredibly vulnerable.

For most of Polly's childhood, Cosmina was the main driver of the notion that Polly and Juno should be just as close as Cosmina and Callista have always been. Socially, she is known for executing excellent events in tandem with others (sister, organizations, etc.) but remaining modest when the time comes for taking credit. She and Callista were in the same house at Hogwarts. She does not think quidditch a suitable occupation for a woman, and would not allow her daughters to play. She does not know about the Kingsley situation, but of course knows about the girls. Suggested PB is Leighton Meester; alternatives to be brunette.

CALLISTA PUCEY

B. Jan. 1878 | UCPB | SLYTHERPUFF | SOCIALITE

Callista Pucey has a secret: two of her children are not her husband's. Indeed, they aren't even hers.

• Iseult. No issues there. Great job, Iseult.
  
• Juno. Juno and Hippolyta were accidentally switched by the nanny as toddlers, and it was three years before anyone actually noticed. (#ButtBirthmark). At this point, it seemed... unkind to swap the girls back, and so Juno would be raised as Polly, Polly as Juno, and the nanny dismissed without any hope of a reference. The parents all agreed never to tell the children. Besides, it's not like a secret like that could ever cause a problem, right?
  
• Kingsley. In fairness, Callista does not know this. Her own son perished in a very difficult labour, and it was a fortnight before it was certain Callista herself would live. When she began asking after the baby, her husband did not have the heart to tell her, and so acquired a child.
  

Other than that, Callista Pucey is an altogether normal socialite. Well, that, and the fact that she and her identical twin fell in love with, and married, identical twin brothers, but that's old news. She is incredibly close to her sister, but does not know what to do with Cosmina's grief, leaving her feeling out of sorts about the matter. She is very charitable—both in terms of Causes and in her patience for those around her—and wishes everyone to excel and be happy in life (within their own spheres, of course; she's not a radical!). She and Cosmina were in the same house at Hogwarts. She does not think quidditch a suitable occupation for a woman, and would not allow her daughters to play.

Unlike (and except) the Pucey twins, Bernardus and Benedict did not do everything together. Oh, they've been best friends from the drop and were in the same house at Hogwarts, but have always healthily explored their own interests—Bernardus loved sport while Benedict had a mean head for strategy; Bernardus went into healing while Benedict found his place at the Ministry. Still, not having his brother has left him feeling almost hollow, as though there's a crevice where his heart should be.

Benedict was the only person he ever told about Kingsley, and always insisted he did the right thing when he began to waver or express doubts. He loves the boy, but has always struggled to love him as a son instead of something more akin to a nephew. Soft purist/classist (like ideally marries like, but friends need only be human). Of all the Pucey children that ever there were, Lysdandra was always most like Benedict: an easy smile, a kind enough nature, a bit cocky but mostly well-earned, and content with being good enough rather than the best. Understandably, she took her father's passing hard, even compared to her siblings, though still tries to remain lighthearted around Mama, figuring Cosmina already has enough storm clouds overhead. Iseult spent some time at Pendergast's, making her debut in 1894. This was owing to a few (thoroughly quashed!) rumours about her behaviour at the Hogwarts CoB, and to be fair, she has been a model of good behaviour ever since. Besides, Aunt Evelyn's school wasn't bad, and she even met the love of her life there!

Which is only problematic in that Iseult is expected to marry a man, and LOHR is very much a girl. A mild inconvenience.

The two have hatched a plan: they will take a leafe out of Iseult's mother's book and marry a pair of brothers. Then, they may spend as much time together as they wish, raise families together, etc. Simplicity itself, no?

Bubbly and clever, but not exactly devoted to her studies, Hermia sees Hogwarts as what one does rather than something she yearns for and, to be fair, she's not exactly wonderful at wandwork (this may be a factor. Maybe.). By contrast, Demetria has always had most things come easily to her, and magic has proven no different. Like their mother and aunt before them, the twins are very close, but each is privately very glad to have an opportunity to spread her wings and see what else the world has to offer outside the family. Kingsley Pucey was never shown any more love than his sisters just by virtue of his penis, and as a result is surprisingly well-adjusted, compared to most wealthy young lads set to inherit. Merlin help him, are there ever a lot of sisters, too—for that is largely how he views the cousins-next-door as well. Each year he eagerly awaits his return to the testosterone-laden halls of Hogwarts, his friends, and his crush-of-the-moment, though this most recent return had the added advantage of taking him out of what he presently views as a shrine to grief. For Kaatjie Kaat has lived with her Uncle Klaas' family since January 1893, and I am READY TO HAVE THEM PLAYED. Kaatjie's uncle, Klaas (born 1855) was always a lot more responsible than his only sister — while Adriana was cavorting around Europe, impulsively marrying Don Juan Dempsey, Klaas was moving to Britain, establishing himself in his career, and marrying a responsible British debutante. He was softened by the death of his son, Willem, in 1890, and took time off work to care for his sister at the end of her life in 1892. In early 1893, Klaas brought Kaatjie to Britain with him, came up with a vague backstory for her, and was determined to keep her away from any of the Dempseys in order to avoid a scandal (but did tell Don Juan he would care for her via letter.) Klaas was born in the Netherlands and attended Beauxbatons. I think Klaas-ambassador would be funny so he has to deal with his feelings about Dempseys at the Ministry. Klaas is predominately responsible and stoic, but soft with his children and niece — and could be keeping additional secrets of his own. Pictured is Mike Colter; alternatives to be Black. He will also be suing the Dempseys. "Charlotte" Spaans née --- MCAB | OPEN HOUSE | HOUSEWIFE "Charlotte," b. 1858-1861, is Kaatjie's aunt — her natal family and her relationship with them are super open. She has a love match with Klaas, and married someone who was maybe less-established than her family may have preferred because of it. While the loss of two of their sons has made Klaas softer, it's done the opposite to "Charlotte" — who is trying very hard to raise her children to be the Victorian ideal. She has a particular focus on Kaatjie, given the drama of Kaat's mother, who she never met. (Adriana not attending the wedding was, at the time, big drama for Klaas.) Charlotte is not particularly thrilled with Kaat as their boarder, but really does not want her niece to know! Pictured is Issa Rae, but play-by is wide open, including race. Mila Spaans MCHB | NOT GRYFFINDOR | THIRD OR FOURTH YEAR Kaat's very cool older cousin, Mila is confident, determined to be popular, and perhaps a sufferer from Oldest Daughter Syndrome. Reserved for Bree Arie Spaans MCHB | CHILD| FUTURE FIRST YEAR Born in late 1883, Arie is immensely jealous that Kaatjie's at Hogwarts before him. He is also, probably, her best friend. Arie's personality is fairly open, but he's less excitable than Kaatjie and less confident than Mila — which is, sometimes, difficult for him. He is Very aware that he's his father's only boy, and may feel pressure because of it. Pictured is Miles Brown, but PB is open as long as they're Black or mixed race.
