June 9th, 1888Miss Woodcroft,
I trust my awful owl finds you well and doesn't decide to keel over. It's rather old. Also, it bites. Be careful.
The fog seems to be getting worse and I'm unsure if you've read the Prophet, but there's no magic inside the fog so please, if you head to Irvingly, try to be safe. It ought not be heading to Hogsmeade though if it does, I'll likely be stationed there to keep an eye on things. Or I'll be sent to London.
Or wherever. I'm not sure.
I also hope you are recovering well. Drink lots of water. Your head is probably hurting and your stomach is likely in knots. Take it easy.
Also, I have your wand.
From,
Charlie

Regarding last night...

Why in Merlin's beard would you not lead with the fact you had my wand?! I've been frantically searching for it all morning! How did you even end up with it? Some of last night's details are a bit..foggy.
You weren't wrong though. My head feels as if a troll has pounded on it. I'd much rather just stay in bed all day but I have a feeling my mother won't be having any of that. And I don't know what you're talking about the owl biting. I found him to be quite sweet. But, then again, I've always seemed to have a way with creatures.
And..thank you. For being so kind last night. You didn't have to do that but you did anyways. It won't be forgotten.

June 9th, 1888Miss Woodcroft,
I opted not to lead with my having your wand as I’d much prefer to make sure you were cautious about my owl – though I am surprised it’s decided to be kind to you. It hates me. It even tried to steal my wand once. Stupid bird.
And at any rate, I’m sorry you’re not feeling the best today but it will wear off once you’ve rested and kept yourself full of water. It will help dissolve dilute the alcohol.
No thanks are necessary. I was only doing what any man would do. And neither are any apologies, so please do not attempt to.
I’ll be in Hogsmeade once again later this afternoon and I shall have your wand. Make sure to bring a chaperone, though. I wouldn’t want any rumours to start at your expense. I’ll be at Padmore Park an hour before the evening meal.
In kind,
Charlie

You hardly give your owl enough credit. Though, I don't blame him for biting you if you call him such things...
Don't worry. I've drank plenty of water though I've had to help my mother with work so I've not been able to actually expire in my bed. I'm sure she'll need some things delivered so I'll make sure to leave before dinner to make my deliveries.
And I think you forget, I was in that position thanks to a man. So don't sell yourself short by saying you're like any other man since obviously most would not have acted in the way you had.

June 9th, 1888Miss Woodcroft,
I'll see you later today.
Though I daresay you are mistaken so forgive me if you find this out of turn.
A man did not put you in that position.
A boy did.

June 13th, 1888Miss Woodcroft,
I'm going to preface this letter with how thankful I am for the dinner with your family the other day. They were more than welcoming and seemed rather interested in your career prospects.
They like the name Charlie, too. See, there's absolutely no need to call me anything else.
In the meanwhile, I'm sure you've read the Prophet and by now, I've been told the fog has reached Wellingtonshire. Please be careful. If you need to leave the house, do so with someone else or carry something - your wand won't work.
From,
Charlie

I hope your owl bit you upon returning with this letter. He quite enjoyed the treats I gave him and even slept on my lap for a time before having to return to you. If you should ever tire of him, I'll gladly take him off of your hands.
And I know. I've heard plenty about how nice and charming Charlie was enough to where my ears my surely bleed in time. Should something happen to my father, I imagine my mother would gladly accept a request for her hand from you.
I've heard of the fog spreading. Luckily, it doesn't seem to be hitting here in Pennyworth yet so I should be fine for the time being. I will, however, make sure I bring something with me during the times I have to make deliveries for my mother. What would you suggest? A knife? A brick perhaps?

June 14th, 1888Miss Woodcroft,
He did and I'm blaming you. If you continue to feed him, he's going to end up eating my hand and I'm going to blame you if that happens. Though I may take you up on that offer. Even as I write this, I can see him staring at me and plotting my demise.
And marriage? So soon, Miss Woodcroft? I'll take it on board - but ought you focus on your student studies? I wouldn't want to be cause for distraction for you.
And I trust you are to be fine - but please be wary. And no, I do not suggest a brick. Even for you, that is quite an... stupid uneducated answer. A small knife, perhaps.
P.S. My name, Emmeline, is Charlie.
Until your next owl,
Charlie

I hope you don't mind me keeping him over night. He looked awfully tired so I let him stay with me for the night. He seemed happy enough anyways.
Also, you're an idiot. Even if I didn't have another year of school, I have other things to do before I'd even consider marrying everyone. I'm not one of those rich debutantes that don't have to work. If I want to survive, I need a job.
And a knife it will be. As long as a stranger doesn't borrow it then put it in their own pocket.

June 16th, 1888Miss Woodcroft,
Mr. Charles? Are you mocking me? I... can't believe you, you're like a child am at a loss for words. That's not very ladylike, Miss Woodcroft. I'm more inclined to call you something else now.
And it's alright. If I am to be honest, I'd kind of hoped the old thing had died. Alas, here we are again with my being tormented by it once again. Look at those yellow eyes of his. Do you think he was transfigured into an owl years ago and has been plotting revenge on wizard kind ever since?
I suppose so. You are quite resourceful, it seems. You're going to need that resourcefulness, firewhiskey. The fog is encroaching on the rest of Hogsmeade so please, please be careful. I'll update you as soon as I can.
With regard,
Charlie
Not Mr. Charles
July 1, 2018 – 11:32 PM
You certainly don't give him enough credit. He's a sweet old man and he clearly has good taste in humans. Knows what he's doing, surely.
And if you call me firewhiskey, I can promise you he won't be nice to you at all and will plot his revenge on you simply for my sake. Clearly we have begun an arrangement of sorts.
Also, don't tell me what to do. I can take care of myself, remember.
Emmeline
