THE COMPETITION
[Image: TDwaGCA.jpg]
B. 1875-1876 | MC/UCAB | SLYTHERCLAW | SEVENTH YEAR ('93)
Genia has always been a high achiever and sought to be The Best at anything she tries. Specifically astronomy and transfiguration, but she doesn't much like feeling as though she's lost. Enter: "Delphinia". With the exact same slate of courses and the exact same drive to succeed, the two have been in an unofficial, unspoken competition since their first year. Will it continue after they leave Hogwarts, or will they peacably go their separate ways? (lol no it's probably the former). PB is hella open, but pictured is Mia Goth.

MATILDA FARRIS
[Image: mFi9PgD.jpg]
16-20 | MCHB/MCPB | NOT HUFFLEPUFF | STUDENT OR DEB
The daughter of Mr. Farris, Matilda puts on an excellent show of being demure and well-behaved in spite of the fact that she has definitely done a number of things she shouldn't. She knows her father wants her to marry one of the Yarwood boys, and so is as flirty with them as propriety allows on her frequent visits to the Glen, doing her best to uncover what makes each of them tick. Suggested PB is Jasmin Savoy Brown.

CHARLOTTE "LOTTIE" WHYMPER
[Image: hzVZaux.jpg]
B. 1878 | MCHB | OPEN HOUSE | FIFTH YEAR ('93)
Lottie probably should have been Evangeline's daughter instead. Bubbly and good-natured, she thrives as part of a group. She has a tendency to take on projects that are often abandoned halfway through. Her current project? Help her mother find love, of course! Open PB, but should be white or mixed-race.

EMILIA WRIGHT

B.1836 | UCHB/PB | PB: CATE BLANCHETT

Jude's mother Emilia comes from a generally traditional/conservative upper class family. Although she and her husband got along reasonably enough, it was probably an advantageous match more than one of affection – and, for whatever reason, they only had one child. Unfortunately for them, that child was Jude. Precocious as a kid and painfully opinionated as a teenager, he didn't make it easy for them to be the typical hands-off UC parents, but things only got worse after he'd graduated Hogwarts, butting heads with his father and derailing far too many dinner parties with socialist rhetoric and other distressing things. Worried about their standing in their social circles, they basically tell him to shape up or ship out. Jude does the latter, moves away to London, and basically ignores his parents' existence as much as humanly possible. At first, at least, they do the same to him - but they come across as perhaps too soft to disown him properly, as when Michael dies of the Laughing Plague in 1884, his will passes on the family estate and inheritance on to Jude as though nothing has happened. (No one was best pleased about this.)

Emilia herself may continue to live on her late husband's estate, rent somewhere in Hogsmeade/London, or some combination of both. Her personality is largely open, as is her Hogwarts house, what she does with herself since her husband's death, and how her feelings have or have not changed. I imagine her own rep/social standing has probably suffered somewhat since her socialite wife days, and she may have gravitated towards new friendships or interests as a widow. At some stage in her life, she might even have liked to have a career of her own - but as a married UC woman, didn't follow through - so maybe she's thinking about that again! Maybe she's even becoming more liberal! Regardless, I think it would be interesting if Emilia tried to bridge the gap with Jude and gradually repair their relationship - but I'm pretty open to seeing how things develop!

Her natal family is also open. Suggested face is Cate Blanchett, but open to alternatives as long as they're blonde.

THE NURSE
[Image: L6MLPQ0.jpg]
30s | WCPB | SLYTHERCLAW | NURSE
"Hortense" is a private nurse, usually tending to the elderly in their dwindling days of life, providing whatever medical care is needed. She may (up to you!) have hastened one or two along, but she is incredibly competent and good at her job—enough so that the Doctors Pomfrey recommended her to care for Algernon at his Wellingtonshire home. For now, she is just a live-in nurse, but she has greater ambitions: should he wake (and she is determined to see that he does), she plans to marry him and secure for herself a better life. After all, what's a little love potion between patient & caregiver? PB & ethnicity are wide open; pictured is Angel Coulby.

MIRANDA ROWLE
[Image: vy3NlBw.jpg]
1854 | UCPB | NO SCHOOLING | SPINSTER & SEER
A carefree child—until her own bout with the Curse: A vision on Christmas morning, one that ripped through her like a scythe and foretold the betrayal of her father. The family knew then, of course, that she had the Sight, but what they did not know—what they could not have fathomed in that moment—was that Algernon Rowle would see his daughter’s gift as a threat to what he had worked so hard to build. On that day in 1862, he conducted his first Imperius Curse. It would not be his last. Miranda never attended Hogwarts; indeed, Algernon played at her being "unwell" for years to justify it and keep her close at hand. She lives at her father's home in Wellingtonshire, and is forced by the curse to be in a wheelchair whenever guests are around/out and about to really sell it. Who knows what her personality could have been if she hadn’t been cursed at 8? Suggested PB is Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Soul Mate
@'christabel Dempsey'

'Casimir Markievicz'

b. 30+ | UCAB | Poet and Lawyer | Temper for a Firebrand | Suggested PB: Harry Richardson

So as his names suggests he is based on a real person- but his played name is open. In true Victorian style he trained in the law, as it was expected that as a second he 'do' something. His relationship with the law and legal practice is open but he is also a painter and playwrite. This is his true passion.

He is liberal in views, supporting women's vote and favoring equality of ethnicity and class. He is a trade union supporter and a theoretical socialist. He had an elder brother who died and as a result of the death he became the heir which has allowed him to indulge his passion for writing and producing artistic ventures.

I would like him to be the Casimir to Christabel's Constance Markievicz!

He could be a gay man who just wants to assuage the rumours and 'do his duty' as an heir, but in this case he and Christabel would be best friends who genuinely care for each other, and they have an affectionate friendship.
Underlined portions are flex and could be reworked to do double duty - Could be one of The Rebels.

VERONICA GALLIVAN NEE SCAMANDER

B.1859 | MCPB | PB: JESSICA BROWN-FINDLAY

Veronica Gallivan was Nathaniel Gallivan's second wife and the stepmother to his older children. She also had two children with him, Nathaniel II in 1882 and Selene in 1883*. She discovered her husband's lycanthropy in 1887. As of the autumn of 1888, she is publicly a widow, though she knows that Thaniel isn't actually dead. In his will, she was left ownership of Quality Quidditch Supplies, though she may not have much to do with the business side herself and is welcome to have other interests.

Veronica is a kind and patient woman, probably a Ravenpuff. In the early days, she and Theo had a difficult relationship, though she and Cecily Gallivan have always been close. Although she spends her time looking out for everyone else, she may have recently met a man who might want to court her. However, knowing that she isn't actually a widow, she might have conflicted feelings about it. Is she ready to move on with her life, or should she stay loyal to her absent husband?

The suggested PB is Jessica Brown-Findlay, with alternatives to have dark hair. She was previously played, and is a sibling to Eugene Scamander, Marlena Scamander and Helga Crouch.

SHALOTT TENNYSON DEMPSEY

B.1867 | UCHB | PB: OLIVIA COOKE

The sibling who takes most after Phyri, probably. Her mother has tried in vain to raise her in a ladylike mold – she was finished at PSYR – but Shalott doesn't do well with being cooped up, and isn't yet married. A rebel at heart, she is outspoken, prone to acts of defiance and doesn't go down without a fight.

PHILIP ROWLE
[Image: 27IOeIK.jpg]
1850 | UCPB | SLYTHERDOR | MINISTRY LEADERSHIP
Cursed for being too brash—the attack on Robin was the final nail in the metaphorical coffin—Philip hasn't been properly himself since 1869. While in his youth he was rather volatile, this has been aggressively softened by his father's machinations. Married with children. Now that he is Awake, he is the Rowle sibling voted Most Likely To Suggest Patricide. Suggested PB is Lee Pace.

ALEXANDRA ROWLE NEE _____

B. 1858 - 1863ish | UCPB | PB: SOPHIE COOKSON

Little does Alexandra know she doesn't know her husband at all. Theirs was a fairly generic courtship – she was a perfect society wife in the making, and the family approved of the match – and Philip has always been a faithful, dutiful husband to her. Her personality beyond that is totally open, as long as she's society-appropriate – maybe she likes her mild-mannered husband, maybe she's bored out of her mind; maybe she's similarly soft or maybe she's always been the one in control of the household. Either way, their marriage dynamic is set to change as Philip becomes himself again and sets out to wreak vengeance on his father, and maybe on the world. Will she stop him... will she help him? Will they fall in love or hate? I don't know. But I want to find out. >D

They have three living children and, like Philip, Alexandra doesn't know that her eldest daughter Philippa was responsible for her firstborn's tragic accidental death.

Her face is open but alternatives should probably be white.

KAYIN ADEBAYO
[Image: gssBJav.jpeg]
B. 1866 | UCPB | UAGADOU GRADUATE | HEIR TO THE ADEBAYO TRADING COMPANY
The firstborn son to the firstborn son. Unlike his twin, who resides in Lagos, Kayin always struggled with wandless magic, though his father insists it's because he uses the tool as a 'crutch'. Nonetheless, he does not lack for brains and has clearly inherited his father's business acumen. He can be a bit reckless in his pastimes, but has never placed himself or the family name in danger (at least, not yet). He works alongside his father, that he might learn the family business before it is time for him to take it over. He is likely an animagus. The suggested PB is John Boyega.

EDWIN ROWLE
[Image: oRKZAiw.jpg]
1863 | UCPB | RAVENPUFF | MAGICAL ARCHITECT
After all his other children (bar Miranda, but she would surely have only taken time) proved a disappointment to him, Algernon did not want to simply "wait and see" with Edwin: he was Cursed upon graduation from Hogwarts. And you know what? He probably would have been totally fine, actually, having always been intelligent and affable. Now, he is Awake in the prime of his hurling life having never really lived, and is reasonably conflicted, as a general rule. Suggested PB is Cosmo Jarvis.

SYBILLA ROWLE nee CRABBE
[Image: ggwu0yn.jpg]
1859 | UCPB | OPEN HOUSE | SOCIALITE
Perfect on paper: wealthy, pureblooded, from a family of high repute. Pretty enough (in Algernon's estimation, at least), she would make a fine wife for Robin. And indeed, she has! They are not friends, per se, and Robin has never properly loved her for obvious reasons, but they are a well-oiled machine, and she was literally and figuratively born to be a socialite.

She also likes her place in the world, and fundamentally understands it. How would she feel if she thought it was threatened, and how observant is she of changes in her husband?

Suggested PB is Christina Hendricks with alternatives to have red or light hair. She is a first cousin to Abraxas Crabbe's late father. First name flexible!

Elijah Hanrahan
b. 1877 | 7
Dropout '93 | MC Half-Vampire
suggested pb: Rhys Matthew Bond

Elijah, despite being the oldest son, has been struck with a case of middle child syndrome. He envies his older sister's relative freedoms and his younger brother's Quidditch talents. Meanwhile, since departing Hogwarts at the end of his fifth year, he has begun apprenticing at the family business, and he relishes the time alone with his father and uncle.

SERAPHINA nee ROWLE
[Image: lr9Q24I.jpg]
1860 | UCPB | SLYTHERDOR | SOCIALITE
Cursed during her first season for being too flirtatious—Papa didn’t want to risk her ruining the family. Spunky and charismatic before the curse, but as bland as paste after. Married with children. Voted most likely to give away that They Know, as she is furious about what their father has done to them. Suggested PB is Tuppence Middleton.

ALGERNON ROWLE
[Image: reLu6Eg.jpg]
1815 - 1820 | UCPB | RAVENDOR | INVESTOR; PROBABLY WIZENGAMOT
As the only son to his parents, Algernon Rowle was raised on the idea of legacy. After all, as heir, what was his responsibility if not to secure the legacy of the Rowle family? This left him rather... high strung in his youth, and he might have developed a laudanum addiction if his father had not aggressively nipped that habit in the bud. By his late 20s, Algernon was a bit more balanced, though still had issues with controlling things around him that he never quite shook.

This came to a head in fatherhood, beginning with his daughter Miranda: he systematically began instigating the Imperius Curse against his children so that the family legacy might be secure. Indeed, he spent so many years justifying it that he doesn't even register it as a problem anymore.

In late summer of 1893, Algernon suffered a stroke. While he will, between you me and the lamp-post, retain most of his faculties, he is currently in a coma whilst his children scheme against him... Suggested PB is Sam Neill.

HER
[Image: jj8AWWP.jpg]
1848 - 1850 | ACMB | OPEN HOUSE | OPEN OCCUPATION
Robin met "Letitia" at a generic ball—hardly the usual stage for grand romance. But between her beauty and her charms and her quick wit, he was quite instantly smitten. It was only after he had been courting her for a fortnight that the Great Problem made itself known: she was a muggleborn. Knowing his father would never allow the match, the two planned to elope in secret. Unfortunately, Miranda Saw a betrayal in her tea leaves and, as those Cursed are wont to do, reported it to their father. That altercation is the last clear memory that Robin knows is his own. He has not acknowledged her since. Now he is Awake, and wants to reconnect.

Though born to the upper-middle or straight-upper class, she is not necessarily there now. What happened to her in the intervening years is up to you! Did she get married and live happily ever after? Is she a widow now? Did she find herself a dick of a husband? Has she emigrated? Did she bear Robin's child out of wedlock? The world is your oyster—have some fun with it! Pictured PB is Rosamund Pike, but both face and ethnicity are incredibly open.

MADOC YARWOOD
[Image: ZWAAoiT.jpg]
38+ | UCHB/UCPB | SLYTHERIN | DRAGON ENTHUSIAST
At the age of four, Madoc Yarwood saw his first dragon, flying low above the family home. He was transfixed, even as he saw it acquire a nearby sheep and his nanny hastily tried to usher him to safety. Thus was born a fascination that would last for decades to come.

His father used to compare him to a dragon, too: bold, intelligent, but with a recklessness to him. It was for this reason, no doubt, that he was passed over in his father's will: instead of the lot (the Glen, its manor, the tennant farms, the Wellingtonshire house, the London house), he inherited a cottage in the Glen, a smaller house in London, and a share in the breeding stables, while the rest went to his elder sister. Though publicly entirely affronted, privately, Madoc was rather glad to have less of the responsibility of things.

The current reserve is the second iteration, reopened by Madoc himself with the Family Money, about eighteen years ago following three decades' closure. He fancies himself a dragonologist and outdoorsman with a businessman's edge, working with the keepers, doing his own research, and otherwise indulging passions that, being largely snubbed by the inheritance process, he might not have been able to afford without his wife's dowry and a little bit of brotherly blackmail to ensure the reservation would be reopened—and maintained—for his lifetime.

Personality-wise, he had the reputation of being a bit of a playboy even for the first few years of his marriage; though he is still a frequent presence at the card table or around a boxing ring, he has otherwise mellowed out substantially. He is as happy out in the "wilds" of the Glen as he is amidst high society, two sides of the same coin—no one, he is convinced, truly knows who he is under these opposing proclivities. Fun fact: the Hogwarts dragon debacle was his fault, part of his less-than-legal efforts to produce a more tamable dragon so that he might ride one someday. It clearly did not go to plan. Pictured PB is Matt Smith.

DRACONIA YARWOOD
[Image: hzVZaux.jpg]
B. 1880 | UCHB | SLYTHERPUFF | SECOND/THIRD YEAR ('93)
The younger of Madoc's (legitimate) children, Draconia has always been a little bit more feral than her brother. Like her father, she understands the rules, she just doesn't like them. Her mother is often exhasperated with her, and Draconia has twice chased off a governness.

ONCE UPON A TIME
[Image: hzVZaux.jpg]
B. 1857-1863 | MCAB/UCAB | OPEN HOUSE | FRESH WIDOW & ASPIRING BLACKMAILER
Once upon a time, a few casual boinks knocked up Once, and she had to get a quickie wedding to just about anyone to keep her reputation intact. She succeeded, and has been married since—whether she had any subsequent children is up to you. Unfortunately (or conveniently, depending on her feelings) her husband perished in the Dragon Incident. Definitely unfortunate was the fact that he seems to have financially ruined the family before his passing. Fortunately, she has a wealthy baby dady...

ARAMINTA SCRIMGEOUR
[Image: F3DT3H9.jpg]
B. 30 October 1868 | UCPB | SLYTHERIN | DEBUTANTE
Quote:The twin sister of Bella Scrimgeour. After her sister was kidnapped as an infant, Araminta was raised as an only daughter. She is a product of her upbringing: educated and well-mannered with an air of haughtiness to her that isn't uncommon in girls of her status. It would be the distinct difference in attitude that would lead to many differences of opinion between Araminta and her twin as they navigated their relationship after they were formally reunited in their first year of Hogwarts. Araminta was—and still is—all too willing to fit into the small box society designed for women of her station, and resented how her life was upended by her father's imprisonment and sister's disownment (especially since it is difficult to tell them apart!). Her reputation is a 6.
Minty is the apple of Julius' eye; he is protective of and dotes upon her, probably double due to the estrangement with Bella. The only thing more pressing to him than his career and getting himself settled (#FamilyLegacy) is seeing her settled well. She was previously played. PB is Danielle Rose Russell.

Philemon Huxley
1865 | MCHB | RAVENPUFF | HEALER
By making Philemon, you can be bros with Gideon Browne. He is currently a healer, but his true passion would be to pursue magical epidemiology.

Wren Burroughs
[Age Appropriate half-Indian]
November 1879 | Third Year Any House | 9 rep

Wren is Ziya's oldest and greatest treasure. Not that she treats her children any differently, she loves them all deeply, but Wren is the product of actual love, and not a horrible marriage. Wren once witnessed her mother's abuse and how she handled that is open! Ziya did her best to shield them, to cover everything up, but that was the last straw. How Wren handled her "father's" death is also open. She does not know she is a bastard and Ziya doesn't plan to tell her, but obviously DRAMA.

Wren can be in any house, with a fairly open personality! She is close to her mother though and the rest is flexible!

Lorelei Owens
[Kathryn Newton]
1870 | MCHB | 7 rep
apothecary employee

Lorelei is Greer's opposite in most ways. Quiet, compassionate and observant, the pair can be like oil and water, but are thick as thieves. Greer excelled in magical theories in school and Lorelei was hands-on. Lorelei is soft-spoken behind Greer's straightforwardness. She's much more nurturing than Greer and more understanding. That said, how she is handling their parents' death and the move is open! She was the driving force behind coming to Hogsmeade, but her reasons are up to you!

For ease of finding quick work, she accepted a position at the Apothecary, but potions is her true passion! There's lots of routes here and it's entirely up to you!

The Owens Ladies now come with the added complications of the Greengrass family, because why not make their lives any harder!
