Tybalt fancied that Scrimgeour, with his law enforcement experience, probably had the upper hand here – but the former-quidditch-playing part of his heart rather hoped Devine had some unexpected duelling skills up his sleeve. But they would see!
Once he had bid them a good day – and a happy Halloween – Tyb declared, “Mr. Scrimgeour to start!”
The stinging charm was particularly nasty, and Tyb winced aloud as it was not prevented by the too-late shield charm, and instead Devine came up in an angry red rash. "Mr. Devine to cast next," he supplied.
Both spells were almost equally strong – both men thrown off balance from them – but, as both men recovered from their falls, Tybalt decided the earthquake spell had had a little more flair, and as such declared Scrimgeour the winner.
