Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1895. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

Did You Know?
Did you know? Jewelry of jet was the haute jewelry of the Victorian era. — Fallin
With this the final pairing of the tournament, a reasonable crowd had gathered around the dueling platform to see just what sort of witches had made it. Given the level of competition the women had vanquished, even Fitzroy Prewett knew better than to underestimate either of them. He reviewed the rules quickly and expertly before getting down to the matter at hand.
"Professor Vorona," he directed his former classmate, "you are to begin when ready!"

Angelica was positively vibrating with energy. It was no small feat to make it to the final duel of the tournament and only a fool would underestimate Miss Black. Centering herself and curtsying to both her second favorite Pretty Prewett (she would never look at the twins again without wanting to laugh at the ridiculous moniker for which she may or may not be responsible) and her formidable opponent, Angelica cast her spell. Chains sparking with arcs of light shot from the floor, intent on binding Miss Black.
Elladora's respect for her opponents had risen incrementally with each bout until this - one of her brother's employees and, as far as she knew, not one that frequently irked him more than usual.
She countered with a stinging jinx to deter the other woman's aim.
Judging by the look on the professor's face, the stinging jinx had hit home—and yet it had not done so swiftly enough, for Miss Black was very clearly all but cocooned in chains. While the spinster seemed the sort to have all sorts of peculiar interests, Fitz was not certain that was one of them, and so was swift to vanish the effects of Vorona's spell. He awared the first point of the match to the professor, before indicating for Miss Black to begin the next pass.

Breathing through the pain, she’d survived far worse, Angelica focused again on defending herself. She called forth her shield of crackling flames again, allowing the familiar magic to run freely.
Transfigured into stone before she could finish casting, Professor Vorona was plainly the winner of the round. Fitz waited for the spell to be reversed before declaring Miss Black the winner of the second pass.
"Professor Vorona to begin the tie-breaking pass!"

One more spell to determine if she would be playing the role of "most gracious winner" or "most gracious loser" for the next year. Angelica quickly cast a stunning spell to knock out her opponent, a move that had already won her two rounds.
"And there we have it," Fitzroy announced brightly once the effects of the spells—one upon its target, the other upon a member of the audience—had been tidied up. "Congratulations indeed, Professor Vorona—clearly you have a great deal to teach the students of Hogwarts!"
