March 20th, 1891 - Moony-Wormtail Boxing Match
Emilia wasn't hiding, but she wasn't not-hiding, either. She didn't want Kit to see her. She also didn't want anyone she worked with to see her. She actually still felt embarrassed about this whole thing, especially because Miss Scamander had had to tell her about it. She had allegedly not been coming to the boxing match until that morning, and even now she was half-convinced that she was only coming because Winnie was coming.

(Of course she knew this was a lie, but sometimes lying to yourself was better.)

The match hadn't started yet, and Emilia was worrying at the edges of her nails. She had the hood of her cloak up as if that would hide her from her husband, but in truth they were up in the stands and the odds of anyone being able to identify them from the ring itself were slim to none. "Do you think he'll —?" Emilia made a wiggly hand gesture, although even she was not sure what she meant to encompass with it.

Winnie wasn't exactly sure how Emilia had learned about Kit's boxing match, nor why she wanted to come exactly, but Win always came to be his medical backup; she could fix his broken nose in her sleep by now. Maybe one time she'd leave it crooked and it would get him to stop.

"Darling, I highly doubt he would think to find you here, so he's not looking for you." Her on the other hand, he likely knew she was loitering somewhere. "He's too preoccupied, I suspect." Win added for good measure. As much as she loved both her brother and Emilia and try as she might to push them back toward one another subtly, she would never understand their dynamic.

"I know," Emilia said; Kit would never expect to see her here, and it was for precisely that reason that she was nervous about him seeing her. But as long as he wasn't looking for her, which he wouldn't be, then Winnie was right — she could not freak him out by being spotted if he could not spot her in the first place.

"It's more — well, I suppose it's silly if I ask do you think he'll get hurt," she said, with a frown.

Win lolled her head to the side, looking at her sister-in-law with a quirked eyebrow. "It's a boxing match, Em." She said very matter-of-factly. Maybe it was because Kit came to her in the middle of the night with broken noses these day and not home to his wife. Idiot.

"That's why I'm here." She chuckled, hopefully to reassure Emilia that things would be some kind of fine. Even if her brother got his ass handed to him, she was always there to patch him up. What were little sisters for after all? Win was pretty sure it was supposed to be more than that.

Right. It was a boxing match, which meant that Kit would almost certainly be getting hurt. She exhaled in the hopes of expelling some of her nerves.

"I know you take good care of him," Emilia said; she attempted a wry smile at her sister-in-law. "I know it's silly to worry." That wasn't going to stop her, though — especially because she saw Kit so rarely, these days.

"It's not silly at all, when you care about someone." Winnie was just used to it at this point. Even she was a little nervous, she rarely actually saw him getting punched, she usually just had to clean up the aftermath at an ungodly hour of the morning when he came flooing into her room bleeding and broken.

"He doesn't really leave me much choice, the idiot." She mumbled under her breath as she cast a quick sarcastic sort of smile at Emilia. There were lots of things Winnie had to say about her brother's choices in life, chief among them how he treated his wife.

Emilia hummed her agreement. She had several issues with Kit's choices since he'd gotten back — obviously, this was why they no longer lived together — but she didn't have to verbalize them, because Emilia knew at least some of it. "Well, he's lucky to have you," she said with a little smile, instead. Kit was lucky to have Winnie, and Emilia was, too — because Winnie kept him safe and because if he got into too much trouble, she would be able to tell Emilia, sooner or later.

Winnie hummed out a dismissive noise of agreement; he better fucking know it. The prat. "How are you, Darling?" She asked instead, far more worried about her sister-in-law's wellbeing than her brother's. Winnie could mend broken noses and fingers, but she couldn't mend broken hearts. "The kids?" Win was by far no means an absent aunt, she liked being involved with her family, but when Anne and Ned were away at school, she tended to forget to stop by as often; something she should rectify as soon as possible.

"Oh, I'm puttering along alright," Emilia replied with a little smile — she was startled to be asked about herself, and was much happier talking about the children. "Ned has O.W.L.s this year but I think he'll do very well. Anne is —" Emilia sighed "— well, she has her father's temper, and she's not even a teenager yet." Emilia loved her both children, she was abundantly proud of them, but with Anne's fiery nature and Ned's desire to be an auror, they were going to make her go prematurely gray.

"Those Moony genes are strong," Winnie chuckled. She and Kit were very similar in that respect, Win had just learned to control it a bit better than her brother. Of course he had some real, legitimate reasons to be a little off kilter these days, no matter how much Winnie wished otherwise.

"She'll simmer, I did." It had taken a while, Winnie had been a bit of a wild card herself in her youth, but eventually she'd grown out of it. "I cannot believe however, that Ned is old enough for OWLs." Winnie had once contemplated stopping her schooling there herself, but mad managed to finish up NEWTs so she could go into healing. Which she had, just not directly. "Weren't we just changing his nappies?" She teased lightly.

Emilia was not nearly as convinced that her daughter would settle over time, but didn't want to belabor the point when they were about to watch her husband get in a fight. This wasn't the place — or the time, because today certainly was not going to convince her that Anne's temper could be fixed.

At least her daughter was not liable to end up in advertised boxing matches.

She cracked a smile at Winnie's final comment. "Time," Emilia said, "I don't think I fully understood it until I had children."

"Children certainly do make it more prominent." Winnie was always enthralled to see babies she had helped bring into the world as children these days. She rarely saw them after a few months, but every once in a while she got the chance after some time had passed and they were walking, talking and generally causing chaos.

"Hopefully it'll be kind to us as we go." Win chuckled, pausing as a bell was rung to get the crowd to quiet down. Looks like the main event was about to start. Winnie reached down to make sure her trusty carpet bag was handy, for when Kit inevitably needed her to fix yet another broken nose. That boy was going to be the one who made time pass all too quickly and cause her to have grey hair.
