Birds and things 'shed' regularly enough, if an animagus in bird or reptile form sheds a bit - what happens to it?

Does it stay animal? Turn into human? Disappear?

I'm not talking about a limb or anything that extreme but fur, skin (snake style), or feathers.

Lady is amazing!

It's established that things that fall off/ are removed from werewolves (fangs, fur, whiskers, etc) remain "wolfy" after their human transforms back, for what it's worth! So I would assume animagi are similar in that regard.
