To Verity's eyes the players seemed to be all over the place. Why couldn't the bloody announced say who had been hit?! Or at least ensure that those of them whose employment relied on the continual existence of those above were aware whether they were out of a job or not?!

"Can I borrow those?" She asked of the nearest person with a pair of glasses. She had no idea how effective they were but her own eyes could only make out blurs and none of them looked familiar.

A bludger in the stands. Ned and Anne were in the stands.

Surely it was nothing, Kit reasoned with himself. Bludgers went into the stands from time to time—gave the audience a fright, to be sure, but if a player could take a direct hit and still keep going—as they had witnessed countless times today—then surely an indirect encounter wouldn't do much damage, right?

Anne and Ned.

The auror hadn't been much of an optimist, even before his captivity. His efforts to reason with himself were dwarfed altogether by an overbearing sense of foreboding as the wizard approached the edge of the box, craning his neck and willing the situation to make itself clear, with...zero results.

Finding people through binoculars, Verity quickly discovered, was probably easier when one wasn’t panicking to the point that a tremendous headache was forming behind her eyes. Everybody was blurry – presumably clumping at the edges of their respective stands as they too tried to assess the damage – and finally, finally Verity caught sight of Mr Abercrombie.

It quickly became clear to Verity that the worst had not happened. She was already anticipating the monstrous panic attack she would have to deal with later but a wave of relief washed over her the likes of which she had never felt before in her life.

“Here,” she said in a shaky voice, hands trembling as she held out the binoculars. “They’ll help.”

The reality of what had happened was washing over her and Eva suddenly felt incredibly nauseous, hands instinctively and protectively covering the barely-visible baby bump at her middle. "Hey Murph, I'm not feeling too well," She said, hearing the chaos above them only heightened the urge to leave. This was coming from a girl who watched quodpot her entire life, but something about being pregnant at the moment was making her more wary.

"Will you take me home?" She tugged on his sleeve almost like a child, but passed Fergus a smile, hoping to betray the unease building up in her system. She turned her wide blue eyes back on her company and hoped he could see the seriousness there. Beau was going to be pissed.

He thanked the stars that they were low enough that Eva and Fergus couldn't truly see the carnage. Despite how much of a barbarian he was, he didn't wish to force those who would be trouble by it to view such things.

When Eva spoke, he looked down to her and quirked an eyebrow in concern and offered her a single nod. "Of course. I'll get you out of here in a blink." Abruptly standing up, Murph jostled the person sat directly in front of him (NPC) with his knees and moved to the aisle so that they could make their exit.

"Keep behind me, hold on if you need to. I'll clear the way." After he reassured Eva, WAllace gave Fergus a meaningful look, directing him to stay close behind the woman. It was likely people would be in a panic, and it wouldn't do to lose either of them. "Take 'em out by the knees if they get too close, 'ey m'boy?"

He then set about using his large size to his advantage, bellowing and cursing at anyone who got in his way while he literally plowed a path out of the stands.

Taking her cue from the others already leaving the box Verity followed the tall American man who was parting the spectators with all the alacrity of Moses at the Red Sea, heart racing as she tried to get her breathing back under control.

She had never imagined that the mere thought of Mrs Abercrombie dying would have affected her so much - or perhaps it was the thought of her position being gone just like that? She was under no illusion that her talents were specifically useful to precisely one socialite and the thought of trying to find work that made her feel quite so necessary was impossibly awful.

Whatever the reason Verity knew that her mistress would be in distress, and knew that making herself invaluable was her ticket to the future, so once she had sidestepped the crowd she immediately made her way towards the entrance of the higher boxes. They would let her in now, she would insist, shout if she needed to, bandy her employers name around like a sabre until they relented if she had to, but by hook or by crook she was going to be by Mrs Abercrombie’s side.

And make sure the other woman remembered that fact.

Rose found herself rising to her feet as the bludger smashed into the stands, it was as if the moment happened in slow motion. The ball in flight, it getting closer and closer to the stands, none of the players close enough to stop it, and the boom of it exploding into the box was louder than one would have guessed. Although perhaps it wasn't - perhaps that had been in Roses head.

'My God' she exclaimed, leaning forward, a lace gloved hand coming to her mouth in horror. She wasn't the fainting type, her constitution was stronger than that but still, it didn't take an expert in Quidditch to know that that bludger had been devastating. There was no one, in particular, she would need to worry after - no family, and none of her 'friends' were likely to be found in the upper boxes, so she passed on the glasses and allowed others to look.

Others seemed inclined to leave the box, and it seemed like an entirely sensible idea. As she was at the front of the box, closest to the field, and the danger did not seem immediate she allowed the others to file out ahead of her, but even from here she could hear the panicked feet and raised voices on the stairs of those from the upper boxes who had clearly had the same idea, and wondered if the place was warded against apparition!

People were leaving and Endy supposed he should do the same. Wisp of a boy that he was though, the other, older and bigger people jostled past him so he decided to wait. It wasn't like a bludger to his own head would cause anyone but himself trouble. But even so, he liked his pretty face so hopefully one wouldn't be taking them by surprise. As it was, it looked like the game was being halted.

It wasn't the children, couldn't be.

This thought ran round and round his mind, a prayer more than a certainty, as a pale Kit joined the slow tide departing from the box, a feeling of dread hanging over him like a shroud.
