Possible Vampire Attack In Hogsmeade
Survivor Wandered Fog For Hours

A Pennyworth resident by the name of Phyllis Smith was checked in to the Hogsmeade Hospital last night after allegedly being attacked by a vampire earlier that day.

Smith claimed a vampire came up behind her in the thick fog and pushed her into the wall of a nearby building, then began to drink from her shoulder while she struggled against the attack. Her descriptions of her assailant were vague and in some cases contradictory, due to confusion as the result of a recent head trauma. Healers confirmed that she did have a large, bloody wound on her shoulder, but were unable to find any of the distinctive fang impressions usually left by such an attack. Such marks could have been obscured when the vampire fled the scene, if they were interrupted hastily enough, but at this point it is impossible to say.

Following the attack, Smith wandered the streets of Hogsmeade for hours, trying to find her home. Between the fog and her confused state of mind, however, she was quite likely wandering circles; she eventually sought help from a passerby only four blocks from where the attack allegedly took place. She was then escorted to Hogsmeade Hospital.

Smith was also robbed at some point during the attack, but cannot recall when this happened or what lead to the head trauma. She is currently being observed at the Hospital until her wits have fully recovered, although healers admitted that there was very little they could do in the way of treatment without the use of magic.

"We've bandaged up her shoulder, but as far as her head goes, there's nothing to do except wait and see whether she remembers anything else," one healer told the paper. He also thought the idea of her having been the victim of a vampire attack was unlikely: "She didn't lose much blood, so if it was a vampire, someone would've had to have interrupted them pretty early on. But if that's the case, why didn't whoever saved her help her to the hospital? And why did the vampire run off with her coin purse?"
