Aidan McLoughlin is a hard working head of the Floo Network Authority office in the ministry of magic.  As such any complaints he receives, he is ecstatic that he has underlings he can give them to so they can deal with them and he doesn't have to unless they're expedited complaints that he received from the head of transportation.  He has been in the ministry for six years, give or take, so he must have some friends there he could talk to. 

He also dines at the Leaky Cauldron and hopefully the regulars there have stopped staring and oggling at him to make him one of their own and talk to him.  He might be higher in the social class system, but surely every customer at the Cauldron are equal.  Except for customers and workers and the Cauldron's owner.  But that's another thing entirely.  While he despises talking shop at the Cauldron while enjoying his dinners, he usually gets to hear what the ministry is doing to people and is asked if he could help them out. 

While he always says he'll try to do what he can, it's usually a fifty-fifty proposition that he actually does what he says he will do.  Mostly because of his memory and depending on how much he had to drink that very evening.  Filling him up with ale really doesn't help you out with your problem as much as you might think.

Aidan also likes to sing and play the piano.  He likes to read and go to the theatre.  While he might be a pureblood, he doesn't despise muggles and halfbloods as much as he probably should.  He misses the Gilbert and Sullivan light operas and hopes that they will return once again.  He likes JM Barrie's books.  He despised "My Lady Nicotine," but liked very much his tales about Thrums:  "A Window in Thrums" and "The Little Minister."  He's also a regular reader of the Strand Magazine, which publishes stories about Sherlock Holmes.

Would really like to get all kinds of stamps. The Creature of the Night stamp looks interesting. So, Are there any ghosts hanging around the Leaky Cauldron or Hogsmeade or theministry that Aidan can talk to without realizing they're a ghost? Probably at night perhaps. It might be interesting if Aidan doesn't realize it and the ghost keeps laughing at Aidan for which annoys Aidan because he hates being laughed at and doesn't understand why he's laughing at him.

I think there might be a stamp for talking in rhyme if anyone's interested in helping me get. Obviously I'd be helping you also. But I'm a stamp whore, so if someone would like to work with me to get some stamps, that would be awesome!!

  

Hi there! I have a few characters who could work as possible connections

Freddie Prewett works in the Apparition Testing Centre, so they're not quite coworkers but work in the same department. He's a bit younger than Aidan, but not so young that they couldn't be friendly.

Edric Umbridge is about five years older than Aidan, another MCPB, and heads the Department of Magical Accidents & Catastrophes in addition to being a member of the Wizengamot. He's not a social butterfly sort and prefers the company of his close friends and his wife, but he's a hardworking employee. He was formerly head auror, but transferred out when he and his wife started their family.

Simeon Shafiq is around Aidan's age, is an UCPB, and is the assistant head of the Investigation department. He's a very no-nonsense boss to his employees, but is much warmer with people he considers his friends.

Delight Urquart works in the Department of Magical Accidents & Catastrophes, is the daughter of the former Minister for Magic, and prefers the company of the women in her department to any of the men she works with. She's a sunny soul, but after scandals her family has faced in recent years she's begun to put up an emotional wall.

Aidan finds the Floo Network Authority office boring but he believes politics makes him a prisoner there, so he'd be interested in whatever is going on in other departments. So I can see him asking about new apparitions and the like in Apparition Testing.

Just like invesigations, I'm sure there can be some kind of accident or catastrophe that could have Edric have to talk to Aidan about that is connected with the Floo Network. Depending on his timing, Aidan might invite him out to dinner at the Leaky Cauldron, unless it's highly important and confidential. People do have prying ears and eyes.

I'm sure we can thread something between them. Perhaps he's working on an investigation about the floo network and as assistant head, he is the liaison person to the Floo Network Authority to tell them what happened and whatever. And Aidan would be the one to talk to being the head of the office.

Um, Aidan tries to stay away from ministers of magic or anyone close to them, like daughters. He kinda hates the ministers, too high up in the hierarchy. And is somewhat against nepotism and how else would a woman be able to get a job in the ministry? They don't have to be friends.

Both Benedict Sterling and Faustus Prewett  are in the Auror Department with Faustus being Head Auror. Ben used to be and then he went and got amnesia so it took him a while to bounce back.

I also have Rowan Yaxley who is good friends with Bree's Delight, so if Aidan doesn't like Delight he likely won't get on with Rowan!


Other people I have outside Ministry are:

Mabel Brighton and Sebastian Beauregard who are both medi-healers. In London I have Agrimony Macnair and Meredith Edgecombe who are just polar opposites. A is grumpy and Meri is a ray of sunshine so take your pick amongst them xD

Freddie is relatively new to the Apparition Teste Centre, but would he happy enough to talk about all the injuries he's had to deal with from the sixth and seventh years :P

Edric would be involved if anything major happened in the Floo office! As would Simeon.

Delight is very offended about his opinions on women in the workplace, and if he ever vocalized them she'd probably try to jinx his shoes to make him trip xD. From an more OOC perspective, the magical world is more open to working women than the muggle world is, and there's plenty of women working in the Ministry (including the Wizengamot), but there's def other male characters IC who don't like the idea of working women!

Aidan heard about Benedict's amnesia but had just entered the Ministry at the time of his disappearance I think.  He might talk to Benedict but would believe heads of offices would like to speak to Head Aurors.  He worked hard for his job and he believes in chains of command. 

Aidan & Faustus
I believe Aidan would rather talk to Faustus than Benedict about business.  He'd talk small talk with Benedict perhaps, but would be more comfortable talking with Faustus. 

I also have Rowan Yaxley who is good friends with Bree's Delight, so if Aidan doesn't like Delight he likely won't get on with Rowan!

Does he venture to Diagon Alley?  I'm sure Aidan could get into some fixes that might require him to get medical assistance at Mungo's but otherwise he wouldn't go there otherwise.  Unless he had to visit a good friend or a coworker.

I can definitely see Aidan go into Agrimony's apothecary just to talk with him. He can pretend he's interested in whatever's around the store. His personality is a lil grumpy as well, so it would work very well. He really isn't the sunniest person in the world. People who are too bubbly and overfriendly bother Aidan to no end.

Morwenna Skeeter is a Head of Department and Wizengamot member so perhaps the exact sort of woman that Aidan disapproves of :P Morwenna will absolutely have an argument with anyone so there's potential there.

Outside the Ministry I have Xandra Radlett who is a healer at St.Mungo's. She deal with potion and plant poisoning but in an emergency I'm sure she could deal with a floo mishap if you're looking to branch outside the Ministry people.

Aidan understands the delicate nature of his personal opinions about women in the workforce, especially at the ministry. I don't think it's widely known, though I could be wrong. He wouldn't be found in an argument with a woman at the ministry - the Daily gossip rag would have a field day.
