Cards Against Humanity

Here on Charming, it's common for us to play the online version of Cards Against Humanity! If you don't know what Cards Against Humanity, here's the jist of it:

Cards Against Humanity is a party game in which players complete fill-in-the-blank statements using words or phrases typically deemed as offensive, risqué etc. printed on playing cards. (Wikipedia)

Think of it as an adult version of Apples to Apples. Ours most certainly has adult themes, so if that is not your style, there is your warning

Some games are scheduled some are impromptu, but give us a shout in the cbox if you want to see more games scheduled!

HOW TO SET UP A GAME

The Site: HERE

1. Enter in a nickname and then hit "SET"
   
2. In the top LH corner, hit "CREATE GAME"
   
3. Set your options for the limit of scores, player limit, spectators etc. I think we usually leave these on default. Leave the "CARD SET" section alone too.
   
4. Head down to the "GAME PASSWORD". This, we fill in - usually something HP themed but honestly whatever you want!
   
5. Once you've decided on your password, all you need to do to set it is click outside the text box. No need to hit an enter button, cause there is none :P
   
6. To get the specific Charming card deck, go to the chat, enter this and hit return: /addcardcast SSXED
   
7. C + P the url into the cbox and list the password
   
8. Wait for everyone to enter in the box (you'll see the players listed on the LH side next to the chat, which doesn't work btw so you'll have to use the cbox for any communication)
   
9. When everyone's ready, hit "START GAME" in the top LH corner!
   

JOINING A GAME

1. Click on the link provided
   
2. Enter in a nickname and the password provided
   
3. Voilà! <3
   

ADDING CARDS
So our deck needs an upgrade - it hasn't been added to in a while and this is where you all come in! Use this spreadsheet to add your suggestions into. There's a tab for White and Black cards as well as examples. Leave the "PORTED" section alone though - Olive has to enter them in seeing as she has the account that the deck is created under xD (The app that we use to submit our own decks is called Cardcast, which is linked to the site we play on.)

To see the existing cards we already have, click here. These are the cards that were played in the last round (1,2). Click on the black cards to see the hands that were played as well as the card that won!

In each game you play, there's links in the chatbox that provide you with the full round's hands played (linked at the very beginning of the rounds) as well as the individual turns taken!

Unfortunately cardcast (the host of our custom deck) closed down their server recently. Very sad times. Xyzzy, the site we've always used, doesn't support any other way of using custom decks aside from cardcast so I had to look further afield. I present to you: All bad cards. This one doesn't have the original CAH decks because they run on Patreon support and it's a whole thing apparently. Anyway, if you want to set up a game with our custom deck you'll need a Patreon account but that's it.

N.B. When adding black cards to the spreadsheet please only put one underscore so I can copy and paste easily and also no punctuation on the end of the white card phrases <3

HOW TO SET UP A GAME
The Site: HERE

• Select "NEW GAME", type in your desired nickname, and then hit "CONFIRM".
• On the next screen, copy the game link at the top of the page. That's all you need to get people in the game.
• Scroll down to "SETTINGS" and set up the game.
  Here are the settings I recommend changing:
  • "GENERAL" -> Uncheck "REQUIRE APPROVAL TO JOIN". It's annoying and the room is private anyway.
  • "GAMEPLAY" ->
    • Enable "ROUND TIMEOUT" - 60 seconds is the default and works nicely.
    • "ROUNDS REQUIRED TO WIN", turn off "USE SUGGESTED" and pick a number. Xyzzy defaulted to 8 if I remember correctly, 7 is also a good number.
  • "BUILT-IN CARD PACKS" -> select "NONE". Unless you want a lot of random cards.
  • "CUSTOM CARD PACKS" -> enter pack code: 5Idptx3Za and click "Add deck".
• Scroll back up to "PLAYERS" and wait until you have enough people, then click "START".
