Dear Professor Yi
Sir, prior to your appointment at Hogwarts I was a student of transfiguration under the tutalidge of Ms Wiltingham.  While I showed some measure of skill in the subject, it was my express desire to study to become an animagus with which Ms. Wiltingham provided particular assistance.  She undertook to give me private lessons, and provided me with some books on the topic to take with me while I travelled last year.

Alas, I return to find her gone from Hogwarts and no forwarding address.  I am unsure if the books were of her own collection, or the property of the school kindly loaned. I ha dhoped you might provide some assistance in this instance.

The books are:
Unleash the beast: Finding your inner animal - by A. Growler
Advanced personal transfiguration by U. Tryin
Evolution of the Animgua by C. Darwin

If you might`let me know by return I would be most grateful for your assistance.

Kind Regards
Miss Madeleine Backus

Miss Backus,

I am almost positive those books were of her own collection as our own copies are accounted for. If you like, you could send them back to me and I can do my best to ensure that they are returned to their owner. I am also personally curious, did you fare well in your studies?

Sincerely,
Professor Yi

Professor Yi,
Thank you, I would appreciate that. I've asked another set of owls to deliver the books because they are rather heavy. I'm afraid I have not been very vareful. I fear that my animagus form will copy that of my patronus which is an Indian elephant which wouldn't be the most practical of creatures to be while living somehwere like Hogsmeade. I fear that it is my own mind holding me back at this stage, because I'm pretty sure that I understand the theory and technique. If there are any other tips, or other books you would recommend I would love to hear them!

Kind Regards,
Miss M. Backus

Miss Backus,

That is quite understandable - my own animagus is a fennec fox! It is quite useful for sneaking in a nap around the castle. I feel it is also imperative that I remind you that becoming an animagus is a rather rare feat and might not be accomplished by even the most learned of individuals so do not take it to heart if you should not be able to get past the hurdle that is your own mind. I have sent along some books - which are my own copies - that I feel could help.

Sincerely,
Professor Yi
