A Dazzling Evening

Watching Odira carefully out of the corner of his eye, Baxter noticed the blush creep into her cheeks and found it rather becoming on her. He nodded along with a bit of a dopey smile. Bax had also rather enjoyed their picnic, though the potential of it had only partially dawned on him at the time, he was realizing that perhaps they could have more in their future, if he paid more attention to the little things.

Cataloging her wish for a picnic on the lake, Baxter filed that information away for warmer months. "I believe that can be arranged." Months away from now unfortunately, but he wouldn't forget. "I'm certain we can find something to do in the meantime..." He trailed off quietly, half thinking aloud, half wondering if she would have other ideas herself or if he would be able to think of something to plan. He'd ask his sister, but that would probably be the worst possible idea. For all Catherine knew how to plan, Baxter worried she would jump to conclusions and meddle where he didn't need her to.

"It's been a long while since I was in London last- outside of the hospital that is, there must be places of interest near the library?" She was still at the library right? Truthfully Baxter did not venture even to St. Mungo's very often since he left there to work in Hogsmeade. He really did need to get out more.

The grin that formed itself on her features was in no way subtle—in fact, Odira worried it was so large her face might stick that way! That he, too, was reluctant to go so long without an engagement was a reassuring development, and recovered her fumble, too!

“Mr. Keene, you suggest that there might be anything near a library that I would prefer to it,” Odira teased in response. “Though even I must be forced to acknowledge it is not a particularly social venue. Perhaps the theatre, if that would not impose overmuch on your schedule?”

The theater, wonderful. That could allow for a reasonable excursion much sooner than a boat picnic. Even more than one if he played his cards right. It had been a long time, over a decade since he'd last gone, but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out. Mrs. Parker would certainly know what to do. "I'll look up shows and dates and we can find something, I'm sure." Easy enough!

Baxter, feeling a little more comfortable all around, straightened up a little and cast a glance toward the dance floor. He was very out of practice, but he was probably still passable. "Would you care to dance?" Bax knew it would certainly be noticed by his sister, but he couldn't worry about Catherine right about now. He was apparently feeling emboldened by their conversation and the possibilities they had planned out, enough so to suggest a dance and not care what his sister thought. Who knew!

She offered her hand by way of answer.

“I would be entirely honoured, Mr. Keene.”
