Dueling Tournament
Dueling Tournament
Given his druthers, Kit Moony would have stayed well clear of the whole event. Combative magic was for the field, in his estimation, and combative competition was best conducted with one's own fists. Here, the contestents were merely playacting combat.
(He had not inherited some of his fellow aurors' respect for the art of a genteel duel.)
The tournament, however, had needed judges, had offered extra coin to do so and, as an auror—even one rather rough around the edges—Kit had been a desirable candidate, able to see the minutiae in spellwork that a translator from International Co-Operation would be woefully unaware of.
So here he stood.
Selwyn, of course, he was familiar with from work; Mrs. Selwyn (not the former's wife, Kit knew that much) was unfamiliar to him, but he'd been told she had a tournament victory under her belt. Perhaps, at least, this would be interesting. The wizard reminded both participants of the rules of the tournament, taken from a notecard in his hand to ensure he'd not forget anything. Then, there was no need for further ado.
"Mrs. Selwyn, you will begin when ready."
