Mr. Derek McKinnon vs. Mr. Thaddeus Flint
#1
27th April, 1894 — Hogsmeade Memorial Assembly Rooms, Duelling tournament
Tybalt didn’t know either of the older men – neither of them were Ministry folk – but he had to admit anyone from the Flint Institute of Advanced Magic sounded, on paper, a horrifyingly intimidating duel opponent to him. Hopefully Mr. McKinnon would give it his best.

(But if he got injured by some arcane spell, at least he’d probably know what to do about it.)

“Mr. McKinnon, if you wouldn’t mind starting us off!”
Derek McKinnon Thaddeus Flint

After bowing to Mr. Flint, Derek took a breath before bracing himself; Merlin help him if Flint thought to eke any retribution out on him during this. He’d never hear the end of it from Jack; poor Edith was probably in the crowd bitting her nails to the quick. He shouldn’t have told her this was occurring today. He located her blue hat in the crowd and gave her a pointed look: Calm down, I’m going to be fine Edie.

With that, he cast a tickling hex.
Thaddeus Flint

Thaddeus nodded to McKinnon, he didn't know him especially, but he was ready. He enjoyed dueling, but wished it was a bit less...public.

When McKinnon was given the first position and Thad prepared to defend himself. When given the go he cast a reflecting charm trying to turn it back on his opponent.

Oh, the indignity of being hit by one's own spell. Tyb always found this an exquisitive and embarrassing turn of events, watching Mr. McKinnon doubled over with the force of his own offensive. Ticklish indeed.

"Mr. Flint takes the first round and may cast again next."

Derek McKinnon: 7 | Thaddeus Flint: 10

Thaddeus was incredibly pleased that he had managed to avoid the tickling spell, he wasn't sure his dignity could have taken it, Thaddeus was no stranger to the art of combat, both magical and mundane. When told to proceed, his wand moved with precision, tracing arcane patterns in the air as he focused his concentration solely on his target aiming a confinement spell at the other - a favourite from his auror days.

He wasn't going to hear the end of it from Jack after he recovered from his fits of giggles. At least Edie might have gotten some entertainment to quell her anxieties.

Derek this time cast a shield charm.

The shield charm looked strong, but unfortunately it was entirely too late to save McKinnon.

"Mr. Flint takes the duel!" Tyb declared.

Thaddeus Flint: 14 | Derek McKinnon: 8
