Thistle wrinkled her nose at Daffy's suggestion.  "We don't need you and mum trying to play matchmaker.  There will be no living with her once you're married."  Them finding potential matches might have bought her a reprieve but eventually her mother would have two less daughters to focus on marrying off.  "Unless, of course, either of them have brothers..." she raised her brows at Zinnia with a conspiratorial smirk "They are both very handsome."

"Be careful with those types."  She added with a knowing shake of her head.  "The sort that want a dance, a bit of your time, maybe even a bit of your heart-"  She played with a loose thread on the pillow in her lap. "- But not your hand."

Daff held her hands up in innocence, as if she would do nothing of the sort. Laurel Potts was formidable on this front, even if she had been largely unsuccessful to date, it wasn't for a lack of trying. The older they got, the less she tried to intervene, but there was never a shortage of eligible bachelors. Thistle's skepticism was noticed and earned a pointed look from Daff.

"I do believe they were in school around the same time," She answered Dahlia's question with the little information she had. Daff hadn't actually asked, but she did think they were of a similar age, same station, both dedicated to their craft, it wouldn't be unlikely for them to already know one another.

That Mr. Honeyduke and Elias were friends was apparently not enough however! "There is a younger Grimstone brother, Anthony, I believe he's around your age, Thistle." Daff smirked. And a sister was between them, Ruth, married with two children; Daff couldn't wait to truly meet them all.

"Back to you though Zinnia, spill the tea!" She hadn't forgotten about her sister's admission among the chatter.

Zinnia giggled; they were both handsome, although Zinnia Grimstone and Zinnia Honeyduke both sounded odd to her. Maybe it would be disastrous if Daffy and Dahlia got to play matchmakers once they were married, but it could be fun too — she wanted that fairy tale, swept off her feet, love story. She liked the sound of Thistle Grimstone though, and with a brother around her age, maybe she’d trick Thistle into meeting him too.

Zin felt all her sisters’ eyes turn toward her and she sighed quietly, tilting her head toward the ceiling as she held up a single. “Well let’s see… the constable Mr. Gallagher helped me find my wallet. His eyes are so blue.” She ticked up a second. “Then there was Mr. Harvey. He’s a detective and saved me from drowning. He has the nicest smile I've ever seen in my life.” She left out the mortifying details of trying to dry off, but at least he’d been a gentleman the entire time. A third finger popped up. “And finally Mr. Blackwood, but he was as much of a jerk as he was at Hogwarts.” The man who’d stolen her first kiss during the final days of their seventh year. Zinnia sighed softly. “But, I haven’t seen any of them since. But you two —” She tossed a pointed look at her sisters, “shouldn’t worry about us. We’ll meet someone when we’re good and ready.” Or so she hoped.

Thistle nodded resolutely, more out of solidarity with Zin than her own convictions that she'd 'meet someone'.  It was fun imagining they were now an allegiance of single sisters since the other two had found suitors for the moment.

She couldn't help but grin at the irony of Daffy mentioning another Grimstone though.  "Imagine if I ended up with a younger brother and you with the older!"

It sounded like Zinnia was the one hiding things now! It sounded like she had options! "Well, well, well," Daffy teased with a tut. She took another snack from the nearby tray and pulled the cookie apart in her hands.

"In the interest of fairness, I'm staying out of everyone else's business." Though they were close, Daff was certain she didn't actually want any of them getting too involved. She left off the unnecessary, and hopefully you'll stay out of mine. Close didn't mean they needed to know everything after all!
